they usually wear clothes, as it is indecent of them to not wear any, even if they have a fur coat. but if you just mean practice, then i already do that a lot, and i draw my characters without clothes before i draw clothes on them

i have been bouncing ideas around in my head where the collies manage to make a small but powerful spacefaring society. how do they cope with the various mental problems and trauma they have experienced in the past? maybe some modify their minds to be unable to feel anything and become soldiers, kinda like the combine. maybe some join a cult thinking they can reincarnate as an ai without a body

I am not very gud at this art stuff. But when I do shading, I try to start with the specific main color. I use the eyedropper tool, or whatever the equivalent is. I use the Hue Saturation Value tool. If I were Brazilian I'd use the Hue Hue Hue tool. gib monies, pl0x? To make a shadow, I desaturate the color and lower the value. To make a highlight, I desaturate the color and increase the value. OBVSLY this doesn't work so well if I start with #FFFFFF white or #000000 black, so if I am planning on using shading I will use a pale grey or very dark grey for those parts that are still sufficiently far away from the extremes that I can use white as a highlight or black as a shadow and it will be visible. I experiment a lot. I am still learning, pls no bully mi.

Also under most circumstances Averi should have at least one heart-shaped highlight in her hair. It's a thing Guzzlord420 does, and I think it makes her extra cute.

some collie sketches because i'm lazy. expanded a little on my idea for "void troopers": soldiers lobotomized with drugs to be unable to feel fear or compassion, only showing unyielding loyalty. an easy way for those with nothing to lose to be able to serve and protect their empire(?). controversial? yes. effective? hell yes, though adrenaline has to be manually administered if they are sprinting or doing things requiring strength over marksmanship, since their brains no longer trigger adrenaline release for obvious reasons
they are called void troopers for the empty void you see when you look into their eyes

I hate to be That Guy but I have a stupid question about the Void Troopers. They make me think of some background material for a cyberpunk-themed tabletop roleplaying game. There were some characters, and it was strongly recommended these be NPCs, for obvious reasons, who'd had brain surgery to remove their pleasure centers, among other things. They were controlled by "joy buzzers" implanted in the pain centers of their brains, and they were ordered to obey, then punished whenever they hesitated, so their existence was one only of avoiding pain. They were incapable of feeling pleasure. They would not even consider trying to escape, or take revenge on the people who did this to them, because the thought gives them no pleasure. They were typically found in the role of disposable assassin, things like that. The author seemed to have put a disturbing amount of thought into it, and also noted that if such an individual's consciousness were recorded and copied, then installed on a non-mutilated brain, the new copy was generally really, really pissed off, and now thinking about revenge was pleasurable for him. Does that kind of technology exist in this world background? Because this goes to some extremely dark places really quickly.

these collie ideas are in a different universe/future. asher had augmentation, but his brain was left relatively untouched (especially compared to aurora's). asher's childhood was not nice, resulting in him despising weakness and refusing to ever show any emotion. he can still feel things, but love is something he is having to learn late in life
>>112539
well, so far void troopers are a volunteer-only occupation. for various reasons the collies have up until recently suffered many hardships. as a trade-off for their high intelligence, they suck at coping. those who feel worthless but still want to protect others can volunteer to become a void trooper, but it is a one way street. by the time their tech progressed enough to reverse the brain damage, all the troopers would have died of age, as the practice would likely become outlawed after a while
getting such a procedure as a civilian is much harder, but i imagine some find a way. i feel like meeting one of these people would be a little unnerving, and heartbreaking for others. they can still talk and think, but there's nothing else left of them
as for revenge if they went back to normal, idk if they would want revenge, or hate themselves if they did war crimes. they may more or less not be too regretful, for they actively chose such a fate

I suppose that includes music, doesn't it?
"Foo," consisting of two movements:
>I. Für Lilija
>II. Dawn Again
This started as a simple music project to work on while stuck on Windows (since there's a program I need to use which unfortunately neither supports Linux nor has any viable alternatives... yet). It was supposed to be finished in one night (ev&o it wasn't) and sound "improvised" as opposed to composed (the way I usually do music). If I had more time I'd probably work on it more but I fear this thread won't be around much longer and I have other projects to move on to. I have not seriously produced music in a while so I apologize for the likely shitty mix/master. CC BY-SA 4.0, as always. Do whatever you want with it.
The drawing of Femcel (or the inclusion of any anthro at all) was a bit of an afterthought. I saw the attached reference on Femcelanon's website and thought something like it'd be cool as a cover. Maybe there is some drawfag inside me somewhere, after all. Drawing on physical paper is a little more funner than using a mouse, I suppose. This was 100% freehanded and, surprisingly, done in like an hour or less this morning. I'm kind of proud of it, actually. However, being doubtful of my ability, I began not really caring for some details (reasoning that I could simply emphasize disproportions intentionally should they arise and render the drawing like the attached Bauhaus cover art and call it a different character), hence the irises and abnormally long ears (which were going to be cropped). That should provide context for some of the musical ideas too. It's funny: I used to look down on this kind of music and art not too long ago.
I think that's all I have to say? Sorry for the blurb.

immortal fox character. technically not a new idea, but i sort of had an itch for working on another game, but this time it's a fps swordfighting and archery game where loading saves is canon in the universe cuz ur immortal or something. or maybe you respawn, but the world around you stays the same (important characters stay dead). i also thought about making enemies actually gang up on you unlike the movies where they wait their turn to die. 1v1 is fairly easy, but if you try to 1v4 you will die, so you are encouraged to do hit and run tactics
unfortunately what little free time i have left now is spent doing stuff outdoors, which i find productive and fun. working on another game feels way to ambitious, especially since i'm going to have to fully model the protagonist and never show him much since it's an fps game
oh well. his character is that he is the last of his kind, and is jovial/mischievous, but secretly a coping mechanism for the fact that all his family are dead and he can't stand to make meaningful friends with people who he will always live long enough to see pass away, so he keeps everyone at an arm's distance
>>112740
interstellar, but maybe no FTL tech? and by interstellar they probably inhabit 4-5 stars, with the distance causing major divergences in their societies. though collies are pretty smart, i'm sure they would eventually figure out how to outrun photons

>I like the Averi, very cute.
thx. I tried to draw her as if she were a StoneToss character.
>The griffins are pretty interesting too, I always like seeing cool creature designs
I'm glad you find them interesting too. The first two (seagull/fox and crow/raccoon) were inspired by these two posts. The rock ptarmigan/arctic fox was suggested by a freind as a arctic varient, and I also drew the jaguar/parrot as a tropical varient to it.
>Though if you don't mind me asking, I'm curious why you choose to post here
I first found this site while searching for Averi pics on google images, and decided this site was cool enough to share some of my art with. I once considered posting to /fag/ because theres some cool artists there, but I didnt really feel like seeing advertisements for sex dolls or whatever the fuck it is now whenever I view 4chan, and there's a lot of lolicon-loving giga-gooners on there anyways.

It's a nice reminder to check up on the foo and catch what I missed.

Also when I get reposted and popularity boosted it's really funny to look through the people who like/repost my stuff.
One person will be Averi with a confederate flag, another is a furchud reposting the black sun behind kittens, and the next person has the LGBTQ flag in their bio and just reposted a bisexual flag. I am not exaggerating at all here.

Hell yeah

>notably one that reduces the thermal signature of the armor’s
>power-core and removes energy-shielding capabilities but
>severely drains the armor’s invisibility runtime.
Should the "but" and "and" be switched around here or am I missing something about spartan armor shields?

I don't know how you're supposed to pronounce this character and I refuse to look it up.
I shall guess that it's a b, p, and o at the same time and you switch between each everytime you say it. Alpewolf. Albewolf. Then Aloewolf. Maybe Allewolf if you really want to switch it up. Alkewolf? A k sort of fits in the þ.

ive got some high purity schizo posting for you today
so basically the story behind this drawing is i had a dream where my melody and kuromi were characters in a mario kart double dash type game and kuromi just complained the whole time in a stereotypically isreali way. the game had a twist where theres a third teammate who built shit. i think it was flat. like you could find parts while driving and theyre heavy and take space but if you get them all you get an upgrade and the upgrade they got was a car mounted missle launcher and when you got it the music became all james bond like
also there was a poster for a scooby doo reboot and someone was complaining about it and it was all like
"oh look a scooby doo poster"
"oh my god this looks horrible what are they doing to the franchise? theyre literally butchering my favorite character fred jones"
"what? it looks like freds absent for this plot. the characters who are here look on model for the current style though"
"no look in the background the cultists human sacrificed him"
"oh well i guess thats a justified complaint then"
also when i was done i was all dirty there was a novelty sanrio themed (i think it was piano) shower and changing booth set up in the mall that i insisted on using despite how small it was and there were a bunch of kids that i was holding up but i only slightly cared
they were like
"hey mister are you almost done"
and id peak my head out
"nope sorry. wait your turn"
i told my mom about that last part and she said to look up some movie called "when harry met sally"

I'd wait for the real drawgiraffes to show up and comment on it. I don't know anything except trace, eat hot chip, and lie. In fact, maybe Pill (>>116858) can say something given he's an experienced pencil and paper artist.
However, if you really want a retard's opinion (and bear in mind that my preference leans towards realistic more than toony), I'd say those eyes should be toned down a little bit, actually. But if that's your style, then that's your style. From my layman's observations I've noticed the eyes are the most "up to you" part of anthro anatomy. Head and body shapes and ratios are expected to be within certain bounds, but whether the eyes are realistic or gigantic or in between is one of those things that's to taste.

there was a boy... he was just a regular kid... a simple human being... one day he browsed some obscure anthro imageboard at 3 AM... with no particular reason... at all... but suddenly the site got an update... his page refreshed... but there was something weird... for a fraction of a second he was sure, he saw something blinked across all the screen... something that looked like infernal damnation and eternal torture... but he wasn't very sure... he thought he was tired, so he went to sleep... the next day he told his friends... but no one believed... then he went on this site again... at 3 AM... and he saw the new feature... the flags... so he tried to post with a random flag option... and he wrote about wolf anthros being the supreme species... and how they mog dog anthros... and some other 'tistic stuff... and he pressed the post button... though the site was kinda slow... it was processing the request for a minute or so... or maybe two minutes... or uhh... ... ... some time... ... ... ... ... ... still processing... ... ... ... processing... ... ... processing... ... processing... ... yeah, it was pretty slow, so he thought that he should write on admin's email about it... what should he say... the message have to be polite... but no too compliant... maybe add some irony to it... hyper realistic blood starts leaking out of the screen... but don't make it a joke... maybe a screenshot would help... ... wait... what is the thing that he sees... on the screen.... and then he realized... it finally got posted... success... and by the way... he rolled some creepy flag and he died the next day... he left a note on his table... and... it... said... joe (written with hyper realistic blood)

the collies are very smart, but smart people often have mental issues. by removing their more animalistic instincts and emotions, they can truly unlock their industrial and militaristic potential. though i wonder how they would stay motivated without chemicals like dopamine. also i imagine they don't sound completely monotone, but very calm, almost unsettlingly so.
the more i flesh out this concept, the more i realize im basically turning the space collies into the furry combine

How does the system decide when to administer adrenaline? If the soldiers do not feel fear or any other emotions then how can they ask for adrenaline, or am I misunderstanding how our brain chemicals work.
Also, what would it be like to have a void operations officer as a friend or partner if that's even possible
Replies: >>119321
>>119318
the soldiers can send a signal to their suit from their brain. if the soldier knows they need the temporary strength to, say, sprint or fight someone via melee, they just tell the suit to inject them with adrenaline. same goes for beta blockers. afaik they both affect muscles and heart rate regardless of if the brain is affected or not (though i am no doctor)
>Also, what would it be like to have a void operations officer as a friend or partner if that's even possible
probably like being friends with a psychopath, though one that doesn't want to exploit or murder you. they can mimic emotions, and i imagine some lobotomized themselves to escape depression, but didn't want their friends and family grieve a suicide. even though they don't have a conscience any more, i imagine morality has a lingering "effect" on them, and may pretend to be normal around people they cared about to spare them from the truth. not because they care (they literally can't), but because morality conditioned them to act a certain way, and it still ends up being the natural reaction, at least until that pesky morality can be removed through conditioning and training

Amiga has Sabrina, Linux has Xenia, and AROS has Kitty. Seeing as these opurrating systems each have an anthro girl to represent them, I am requesting any furanon out there to design a mascot fur Terry Davis' TempleOS in a similar manner.

That's still true, though to the extent depends on the caste. The queen meebs get to live a life of luxury in exchange for birthing more meebs for the Elanian war machine. Even a lowly worker meeb can still rise the ranks if they are good enough, but they will never be the equal of something like a node

I'm not going to mass reply but there's been some great stuff posted in this thread, please assume I'm talking directly to (you). Big fan of a lot of it. Some real improvement too from the posters I recognise.

Started drawing again, went overboard sketching from some dog photographs. Weirdly feel like I've improved despite not drawing. moral: to get better at drawing you need to NOT draw.

Thanks. For advice, it's kind of hard for me to say it's mostly just a feeling of what works. But I would say the biggest thing is to follow the 60-30-10 rule. One primary color, one secondary color, and one accent color. For something like a weapon you usually only want one main color for the body. Doesn't have to be exactly three colors, but it's generally a good idea to reuse colors where possible for consistency and cohesion
>>120629
i think this works well except perhaps on the face and hair, Especially the cheeks/eyes boundary, I don't like how they're shaded the same colour. Looks good on the clothes though!

Could use some work on the anatomy it seems, but if you didn't use a reference I'd say you still did a good job.
>how long have you been doing 3d?
Not that long really. I first tried it around February of last year and just made a bunch of versions of the same character. I wasn't happy with it though and stopped. I picked it up again towards the end of last year to try making an Arlo model, but I reworked his design so I scrapped the model. I never was satisfied with any of my attempts before because I was holding myself to a certain standard I wasn't able to reach as a beginner. Now I just want to have fun with it, and it's been a lot better because of that.
>I like the design for the s'hal
Thanks. I know a lot of people compare my story to Halo and rightfully so, but I would like it to stand on it's own two legs. So I decided to make them more like arthropods as opposed to the purely reptilian elites. Forgot to post the actual finished armor designs too. I decided to take a break from drawing for a bit to work on the model

Haven't really drawn many guns before and I've been drawing a few over the past few weeks. Most of these are what my Armstrong Republic uses for their infantry but I also wanted to draw the revolver Marco will use because he's supposed to have a cowboy vibe. I tried to operate in the same spirit as Star Wars and kitbash different real guns into one design but the Republic still uses ballistic/bullet weapons for the most part. Probably a fair bit of Fallout influence too on display here :()

Don't. All art must be 100% melancholic and depressing 100% of the time, otherwise it's not real art. But, seriously, what >>121532 said. There is so much good art in these threads, so many talented people whose abilities enormously exceed my own. I am humbled to be here. I am constantly astonished by the skills I see on display here every day. Nothing I am about to say is intended to diminish that.

You should try laying them out in a rough order telling whatever overarching message/narrative it is you're trying to communicate then fill in the gaps-- with sketches/drafts, of course. Then, once you have something worth consolidating, do the final pass. idk. That's what I would do anyways.

thanks, i will try to stay motivated on working on it. i might even start a thread once i get far enough
>Is it published somewhere (even if incomplete)?
no, but here it is in all it's glory. i was wrong, i apparently made a 4th panel
also you're probably right about how to lay out a story, maybe this one will go somewhere. 13 panels in and still no dialogue tho

Damn she types loud.
The comic you're working on isn't about Lily, right? Just wondering because I've been floating the idea in my head of writing a short story about her based on one of your drawings, if you don't mind. Non-official, non-canon fanfiction (in the strictest sense of the word, not any of the stuff that usually connotes), of course-- which I'd make sure to disclose in a foreword. Typically I wouldn't ask for permission because I don't respect intellectual property and I don't see it as any different from the way you drawgiraffes make art of each other's characters, but I really like you and if you're working on her canon story already, I'd rather not step on your toes, so to speak.
>13 panels in and still no dialogue tho
That's chill. If you don't need dialogue, you just don't need it. Good luck!

Cute.
Sometimes, about once or twice a year, I get these few weeks where I draw a lot, draw decently enough where I am happy about it. But outside of these 'spurts' I attempt to draw a few times a month, but as the drawing doesn't 'bite', I erase it and continue again a few weeks later.
What is this phenomenon, and how do I really just, well, draw all the time?
I was scrolling though all kinds of pictures I had saved throughout the years from other artists, and it was so inspiring.

I used to be like this a lot. But honestly I found the solution to be to purposefully bore yourself to death until the only thing left to keep you occupied is drawing.
Obviously I don't mean "drop all your other interests and focus solely on art", but, for example, when you feel the urge to play a game, instead, open your sketchbook and draw your favourite character from that game. Alternatively you can just doodle whatever comes to mind (that still counts as practice). And if your mind draws a blank, just draw random 3d shapes or snakes of varying sizes. Then shade them. And rinse and repeat.
There's always things to do when drawing, and you don't have to do it too much.
I'm guessing you draw in your free time, so when you dont feel like committing yourself to a bigger piece, take out maybe 15 - 30 minutes of your time and focus on just drawing whatever. After a while you'll just form a habit to draw often.

That's my advice :D

I'm going to /k/ autism all over this post. I hope no one minds. Let me spoiler it so no one has to read this who isn't interested.

Do you have any experience with firearms, or with shooting? Is this for protection, or is this a hobby you want to take up? The conventional wisdom is that it's generally best to start off with a .22 rifle, preferably one that has open sights similar-ish to the open sights on pistols. .22 LR ammunition is least expensive and it gets you more bangs per dollar. This is important when you're trying to build muscle memory. There are uncountable articles about the topic online, some of which are not by AI. There are uncountable videos you can watch. There are books printed on paper that you can read about the subject, more than you could read in a lifetime if you made it a full-time job seven days a week. None of that is a substitute for muscle memory, for learning to use the sights until it becomes habitual, until you don't have to think consciously about how they line up. Trigger control is likewise something most people learn best by doing it a lot, over and over, at a range, with thousands and thousands of repetitions, getting instant feedback with each shot. And for most people it is easiest to learn these things with a .22 rifle, because ammunition that costs under ten cents a round is more conducive, for most people, to using in the volume required than ammunition costing a dollar a round. Also with .22 there is somewhat less noise and relatively little recoil, which means less distraction from learning the fundamentals.

You have lots and lots of choices. I don't know what your budget is. There are <$150 semiauto .22 rifles out there. Some designs are better than others. Some tend to need more tinkering than others. The Ruger 10/22 is in the <$300 range and is extremely popular, with an enormous aftermarket, but the stock sights are not especially usable. Wal-Marts have Savage and Stevens .22 rifles (same company, Stevens products are made in the plant in Canada and the products are otherwise identical) but QC is spotty and there are problems with the magazines. Also they are difficult to disassemble and reassemble for basic maintenance. There are lots of .22 rifles made in turkARYANey floating around, sold under lots of brand names, sometimes findable for $99-ish on sale at this or that discount sports outlet store, but the ones I have handled did not seem well made, and the videos I watched showed them to be assembled with numerous roll pins, which have to be driven out without damaging them for reassembly, then reinstalled without damaging them to put the rifle back together after you clean it and lube it after a range session. Roll pins are inexpensive and roll pin construction is inexpensive, which is why they designed them that way, but it makes maintenance difficult, with a non-trivial risk of damage every time.

Once you pick up a basic level of competence with a rifle, in Current Year there is an embarrassment of choices in good quality .22 pistols. There are Ruger Mark IVs for <$400. The Smith & Wesson Victory Model and Browning Buckmark can be found in the same price range. They all have good reputations for reliability and accuracy, and are not too difficult to maintain. Glock makes a .22 pistol now, the Glock 44. They do not have the greatest reputation. They are said to have reliability problems and quality control problems. Some are better than others. There is an indoor range some distance from me that has one for rent. I tried on out and at least with a hundred rounds of Mexican "Aguila" copper plated .22, it ran with no problems. Lots of people who buy them get lemons, though.

Once you become competent and comfortable with a .22 pistol, you may have by that point formed some opinions about where you want to go next. A double action revolver will teach you a great deal about trigger control and make you a better shot with everything else once you master its trigger, for example.

But if you want to skip ahead to centerfire pistols, Glocks have been enormously popular with law enforcement in the US for thirty years or longer. Part of it is that the construction is inexpensive, allowing them to be the low bidder, but part of it is that they are generally pretty reliable, at least in 9mm. Glocks were designed around the 9mm cartridge and the adaptations of the design to other calibers are kind of a mixed bag. Some work better than others. There have been some missteps. There have been lemons. But yeah, you can do worse. The Glock 17 is the full sized service pistol in 9mm. The 19 is just a tiny bit smaller, holds two fewer rounds, and is fairly popular for concealed carry. There is the Glock 34, which is more or less a 17 with longer slide and barrel for target shooting, and there was a 17L with an even longer barrel and slide than the 34 but I think they stopped making it. Not everyone likes the grip frame angle of Glocks. Not everyone is enthusiastic about the trigger, or the factory sights. But they generally work pretty reliably.

Small digression. If this is something you're thinking about for protection, you are probably interested in ammunition with hollowpoint bullets. They have a narrow hole in the front of the bullet and are made to flatten out like a rivet when they hit something solid. This makes them tear a wider hole through soft tissue, and also makes them a little less likely to go all the way through the bad guy. It can make them a little less likely to ricochet. The notches in the copper jacket in the front and the exposed lead core can make the bullet disintegrate instead of bounce if it hits something like a brick wall at an angle, but there are no guarantees here. This is why just about every law enforcement agency buys hollowpoint ammunition, though. One of the reasons I bring this up is that there was a time, and it wasn't that long ago, that lots of semiauto pistols were designed around the older round-nosed full metal jacket ammunition and many wouldn't run reliably with hollowpoints. The blunt bullet shape would hang up on the feed ramp a lot. This is something you still hear about. It was within living memory that this was normal, and you had to test whatever you bought with several different brands of hollowpoints to see what it would tolerate, if it would run with any of them at all. Colt Government Models in .45 were especially infamous for this, once .45 hollowpoint ammunition became widely commercially available in the 1970s. With more modern designs (Glocks and Berettas, for example) this is generally a non-issue, as they were designed around hollowpoint ammunition in the first place and it will generally Just Work. This is not to say that there isn't a lot of garbage-quality ammunition floating around out there, and that there aren't ammunition-related problems that can arise, though from what I see in Current Year it's that some of the cheap brand foreign-made 9mm ammunition being imported into the US has really hard primers and not all guns will set them off reliably every time.

Anyway. Glock 17s and 19s work. Not everyone likes the way they feel or point. Lots of people say the trigger feels mushy in a way they find very distracting, that makes it difficult to shoot them really well, and I can't say they're wrong, though if you are handy with tools it's not difficult to polish the parts a bit, which will improve the feel a little.

Berettas, and I am assuming you mean the Model 92 that the US military issued for a few decades, also generally work, but not everyone likes the trigger. They're designed to have a long heavy trigger on the first shot, to reduce the possibility of accidents, then a lighter trigger after that. Not everyone likes this. Many find them harder to shoot well because of this. Not everyone likes a manual safety either, and of those who like a manual safety, they generally want it to be on the frame under your thumb, not up on the slide where the Beretta has it. They were not especially popular in military service, due in part to being a bit fragile, due in part to some scandals that took place with magazines produced between 2000 and 2010 by a military contract manufacturer called Checkmate Industries. The springs were bad, and the finish on the steel magazine tubes trapped fine Afghan "moon dust" and this, in combination with weak springs, caused severe reliability problems. Checkmate blamed the Pentagon, because the Pentagon specified that particular metal finish in the contract, and the subcontractors who sold them springs that were out of spec, and, well. It left a lot of people very much not in love with the Beretta 92 design. Part of the problem, also, was that during GWOT the US military had constant personnel shortages, and kept lowering standards until large segments of the Army in particular became adult daycare for retards that Burger King wouldn't hire. I heard too many stories of people theoretically trained, who were issued a Beretta 92 from the armory, who then immediately used it as a mallet to drive tent stakes. Anything the military had issued to these people would have had problems. The Beretta 92s, with their aluminum alloy frames, broke a lot when abused this way. Steel framed M1911s would have fared a little better, probably, but they had mostly been pulled from service decades before, and this would not have addressed the training deficits and personnel issues that were the root of the problem.

I have owned both Berettas and Glocks. I can tell you that Glocks are easier to work on. The Beretta 92 is a very elegant design but it is mechanically complex. There is a lot going on inside it. It has lots and lots more moving parts than the Glock does. The Beretta is harder to work on.

Beretta also makes a striker-fired "modern service pistol" called the APX, but I've never owned one. They don't seem to be very popular, though I don't hear anything bad about them. They just came to a market, polymer framed striker-fired full sized service pistols, that Glock has had sewn up for decades, without bringing anything compelling to the table that would make Glock's existing customer base switch.

There are lots and lots of spare parts out there for Glocks and for Beretta 92s. There is an enormous aftermarket for Glocks and a much smaller one for Berettas.

If you have narrowed it to these two choices I think the Glock is probably the better choice because of the relative mechanical simplicity, and because it's easier to do all the little things like replacing the extractor spring.

If not, I encourage you to go to indoor ranges that rent stuff and try things out. Maybe you'll find something you like. I really like the Walther PPQ and PDP and the HK VP9 and USP, for example, though the USP is another double-action-single-action design that has a lot of moving parts. I am very favorably impressed with the Smith & Wesson Military & Police in 9mm and also in .40, though I know the .40 cartridge is not very popular any more and no one wants to hear about it. The Ruger RXM is kind of a Glock clone, except with some patent-able internal differences, and I am encouraged by what I am seeing and hearing about them, though they were only just introduced. The SIG P320 doesn't impress me quite so much. There have been some scandals with them, problems with internal parts breakage and persistent rumors about them being more prone than other designs to firing accidentally if dropped, though tests I've heard of are inconclusive. I've rented one and it ran okay but everything about the experience felt, as the kids say, mid. The trigger in particular was heavy and mushy and did not leave me wanting to do it again.

Anyway. That's a lot of rambling from me in response to a short question. Let me close off the spoiler here. Thanks for listening to me ramble.

go to a gun store and hold/rent a glock, a beretta, and a CZ75
glocks are inherently unfun to shoot compared to a wonder-9 because of low weight and a shit trigger. the beretta will probably be too big for your hands and the CZ will be perfect and it'll be the last handgun you'll ever buy

Yeah probably a glock, lmao. Most of the issues in feel can be overcame rather easily if you try. I conceal carry a 19X with a light, and i would say it is prohibitively large to carry for most people, without a light it's probably fine though. Lights just make every pistol 'uge. Be sure to get a good holster for whatever you decide on. If you don't intend on carrying though, a rifle would be a better first gun.

Not only true, but also real.
>>126922
The 3rd (xth) position isn't real, you will buy the generic pistol! Pistols suck anyway, people get shot by them all the time and live. They're only still around because they're convenient to carry (and cool factor).

It's a matter of personal preference, I think. I know the CZ75 has a lot of fans. They mostly have steel frames and they're kind of heavy. Like 1911s, they can have really good triggers but don't necessarily come with one out of the box. A skilled armorer who knows the platform can give you an amazing CZ trigger, sort of like the way a skilled armorer who knows the platform can give you an amazing 1911 trigger.

For Glocks specifically, detail strip the slide and polish the safety plunger (like, maybe by chucking it up in an electric drill, coating it with Flitz, and spinning it with a paper towel held firmly about the rotating surfaces) and maybe very lightly polish the vertical face of the striker that engages the sear surface of the trigger bar. Clean up the parts, put some kind of dry film lube on the plunger, and reassemble the slide. Next disassemble the frame. Polish the sear surface on the tail end of the cruciform portion of the trigger bar that moves against the striker. Polish the edge and side flat of the "beak" on the trigger bar that moves against the connector. Take the connector out of the ejector housing. Either polish the inside of the narrow folded lip on the end or get an aftermarket "minus" connector, maybe polishing it in that same place if it needs it, and stick it in the ejector housing. Put a little bit of heavy grease, like maybe synthetic wheel bearing grease (the store brand from Wal-Mart is fine) on the sear end of the trigger bar, the "beak" of the trigger bar, and on the underside of the folded edge on the end of the connector. Put it all back together. There. Problem solved. Problem staying solved.

There are videos you can watch about "connector tuning," where guys will bend the connector and set the connection very precisely, trying to shave one more ounce off the trigger pull and going right up to the edge where the trigger would no longer reset reliably, but I don't think that's necessary and may even be counterproductive for reliability, but if it's a hobby, go for it. It's beyond the point of diminishing returns, in my opinion, sort of like buying your own ingredients to make your own firearm grease instead of buying a cardboard bucket with a pound in it for five bucks from the automotive section of your favorite big box store.

you glock nyaggas are insane
on a more serious note though, yeah, it is really up to personal preference after the $400 - $500 mark. i like SA triggers, i like manual safeties, and hammer fired guns are far sexier than polymer framed striker slop
trying to make a glock have a nice trigger is, to me, a pointless exercise, since an SA gun with a manual safety will always feel better to shoot. you cant put a light, crisp, short trigger into a glock without exposing yourself to the possibility of blowing your balls off cause the trigger caught on your shirt
it, and every other polymer frame striker fired pistol is a goy gun. it's not something that you should strive to own and look forward to shooting with

Considering the flash of a nuclear explosion has the potential to blind, i'd probably be thankful that i can even see in the first place. The second thing would probably be to lay down in the grass for a little bit in the off chance that more Nyukes go off, this'll prevent me from being looking directly at them and is more comfortable than laying on the concrete/asphalt, unless i know there's a good cement substructure to hide in, in which case i make my way towards that.

If i'm freshly transplanted into that situation, i'd probably see what the gentleman depicted has in mind. Maybe see if i can get a handshake out of the lovely woof lady there. Handshakes are essentially hand holding, and i can delude myself into thinking the gesture is more meaningful than it is intended to be.

Maybe hit a dab for the fun of it. Perhaps try and hit the griddy.
