I will be showing Airplane! tonight on 2026-09-19 at 9-10pm EST, which is about 16-17 hours from this post. We may have a gaming event scheduled earlier in the day, so this time is subject to delays if the session goes long, and is why I'll only show one film

Airplane! is a classic comedy with a lot of slapstick and funny wordplay. It was sort of the start of the career for Leslie Nielsen, who is an amazing comedic actor known for the Naked Gun movie trilogy, and the Police Squad tv miniseries which resulted in the creation of Naked Gun. It's a form of comedy I enjoy greatly and I hope you will too

The tl;dw is, the basic plot was borrowed from an extremely cheesy, extremely low-budget Canadian B-movie from 1957.  It's something somewhere between homage and parody.  Imagine Airplane!  But it's in black and white.  And the budget for the film was change the crew's kids found between the couch cushions.  And everybody is being as painfully earnest as they can be.  And there are no jokes.  Everyone is playing everything straight.  And the director really leans into it all.  You'll never be able to unsee it again.
