Something I like to think about in these settings is how does humanity function? We do terrifying feats in the face of fear often times not even justified, genocides out of fear, killing millions of browns post 9/11 because we got scared, and Israel being afraid of fucking everything come to mind. I feel if you pasted yokai or something like them in the real world despite our preachings of how moral we are we’d get scared that there’s something stronger than us we can’t control and kill them all at any costs.
