I thought it would be interesting to create a Linux thread on the 'boo, I don't have a template ready or anything. Might make this a news repost thread mayhaps if it's just me ig

First up on the news:
Arch AIR malware attack
https://www.phoronix.com/news/Arch-Linux-AUR-More-Malware
https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=48527040

Do anyboos use Arch Linux here? I do, but I adamantly refuse to download anything on the AUR so this has not affected me at all.

I thankfully don't use arch anymore. Feels like every time I updated more things broke than were fixed. AUR probably partially to blame

I couldn't even figure out how to set up SSH login to one of my loonix VPS despite having created the key pair and still have to log in using password; on top of that every few hours or days it randomly forgets what the dns servers are, deleting them from the hosts file, and I have to remote back in and re-run the same command that assigns them directly to the network interface or something.
Only distro that mostly seemed to work was kubuntu and even then only the main system partition mounts every boot despite every other partition also having been ticked as "mount on system start" in the ui. It's probably a bug but that system is too old to even bother upgrading.

Joke's on her, I already installed Tha Loonix. I'm just pretending I haven't to get closer to Autism Foxxo.

My daily driver is an Ubuntu box. Or, rather, Mint. It mostly works, though there have been problems with sound. I still have a stripped-down Windows 10 installation on a separate partition, that I use mainly for DCS World.

There is also a piece of older software I want to use, that apparently is only compatible with Vista, 7, or 8. It was a one-man hobby project from a guy who died a couple of years back, so it's not going to get patched or rebuilt for a more recent or current Windoze version, nor is it compatible with Proton or WINE. It's easy to find older Windows versions and install them in a virtual machine in Virtualbox, but every one I've found immediately demands a registration key. It annoys me.
i will never ever ever use linux. ever.
windows 10 iot ltsc has my undying loyalty.

windows 10 iot ltsc doesn't support my Intel Core Ultra 9 285k

First, run SSH with the -vvv flag for verbose output and mayhaps get an error you can fix. Second, here's a quick list of things to check:
- Your remote supports the encryption you used for your key, RSA has the widest compatibility
- Your SSH key is actually on the remote host's authorized_keys file in the user home directory you want to log in as
- Your .ssh and .ssh/authorized_keys are using the correct file permissions. IIRC it's 600 and 700 but just google it because why trust a random Fooanon on the internet ama'rite lol

Tux isn't real, how did he ruin your life?

Surely Hanna Montana Linux isn't that much better than Arch Linux, right?

Have you tried Hanna Barbera Linux? It has a classic look and feel but I am not sure I care for what they've done with Tux.

I hope brave isn't on the list of compromised AUR packages... pretty sure that's the only program I have from there.
Used to use mandriva in 2008, worked fine but apparently everything got worse since then.

yes i'm using devuan. i have never felt the need to use a distro other than debian/devuan except when i had hardware that was particularly new and couldn't get up to date drivers. i used arch for a while, and didn't like it. my favorite desktop environments are trinity, mate, and enlightenment e16 (which i am using now). i am currently pretending to develop a video game. it will be a rally time attack game. after that i will make an FPS game about a race of hot furry 150 mean IQ werewolves who maul nyaggers and eat their entrails - and that's what makes this post relevant to this site
