>Do I need any mods?
No, but most of us will be using some client side mods

>How do I install mods?
You need Redloader: https://sotf-mods.com/install
If you manually install it, you need to drop the .dll and matching folder into the Mods folder. If you are playing on Linux, you need to add:
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="version=n,b" %command%
to launch options.
