>What even is this story about? You never told us and it looks fake and gay and boring and we can't take you seriously with that name.
Well, it is indeed fake. It is a fantasy story set in an alternate world containing both humans and anthros, the time setting being vaguely comparable to our own Late Medieval and Early Renaissance.
War has broken out between the primarily human kingdoms of the island of Ienrrarg, and the primarily canine mainland kingdom of Ikbatewa. In less than a decade, the Ikbemites have already succeeded in conquering nearly half of the island. The story follows an Ienrrargian human protagonist, Arrehp, on his adventure after being press ganged into the navy of the invading Ikbemites.
This is a mature story and as such may contain violence, gore, explicit language, suggestive themes, etc. And whilst on the subject of disclaimers, I should note this work is AI-assisted. See >>115816 for what I mean.
<old and busted blurb:
I've decided to write an illustrated anthro fantasy story. Now, I'm not much of an illustrator and I'm not much of a writer either I suppose so bear that in mind. I'll publish it chapter by chapter in this thread. All content including the text, story, characters, illustrations, and so on are being published under the CC BY-SA 4.0 license, meaning you are free to use them as you wish so long as all derivative works provide due credit & are published under the same license.
Okay, I think that's all. Thank you fur reading!

I like it and I want to know what happens next. You did a good job with describing the scene and the action, please keep writing more
I liked it. It's a very stifling picture of village life. The illustration is nice. I'm not in the mood to think critically about this sort of thing, too bad. Exposition was not necessary.

Alright, everyfoo. I'm going to be honest. I'm just not feeling the illustration part of this project. I'd rather just write. If anyone is interested in illustrating the scenes, please let me know. You should be okay with your illustrations being under the same CC BY-SA license and they should fit the tone, which I think the three images I've published as part of this story so far communicate-- those are the only requirements. I suppose ideally you should also be okay with knowing the story in advance, of course. Please let me know if any of you are interested. Thank you, and apologies for the hiatus!

You're right. I didn't even write a proper blurb for it. I just put some bullshit in the OP and was like here's my story, fuckers. geg.
I'll have to do some experimenting with the artstyle and find a suitable illustrative process that isn't too time-consuming, then.

Thank you for your interest! It should be noted this position requires a minimum of 4 years of prior art experience. For consideration, please submit your portfolio.
I've illustrated the two currently-published chapters in this thread, plus the cover art, so there are some examples. I was attempting to emulate the styles from the picrels (the artstyles, not necessarily the anatomy). However, I'm definitely open to any other ideas & styles so long as they fit the tone. My email's in the email field should you want a more direct means of communication. I look forward to hearing from you. Cheers!

I haven't had the chance to check today, but last I did: no. I'll stop including it in my posts here from now on. I started doing it around the time of the shutdown announcement just to provide another contact for everyone. This was back when a succession crisis seemed imminent. I was even going to make a thread linking to other known points of contact such as furfagschizophrenia.org:27044 (femcelanon though you can't really "contact" him through there anyways) and... uh... that's all I have. lol. But anyways, looks like any such crisis was averted, thankfully.

A disclaimer, since I've noticed AI is still frowned upon here:
I do NOT claim to be a drawGOD. All the images used so far have been tracegiraffeged from a combination of sources including photographs of myself, stock photographs, images from the Internet, and, finally, from AI generations. You may now retroactively opt to call them slop (because, fair enough, I don't think they're great) but, trust me, if I had actually tried to freehand them, they'd've been worse still. For reference, here's the base for chapter 2's illustration. There was still plenty of effort involved in producing the final image. I can attest to that much. Likewise, the text itself is usually brainstormed by AI following my direction, then manually rewritten.
I did not try to hide the use of AI, but I probably ought to have made an explicit disclaimer earlier. I apologize.
>>115811
It's nice.

Got me wondering about the significance of “white wolves” in your setting. For crackpot theory that one wolf and the quartermaster are the same person.
For the two people who care (for which I thank you btw), the text for chapter 4 is maybe about 50-70% complete. I was hoping to start publishing a chapter weekly but I might've yet again underestimated the workload of a project. It doesn't help that I've been rather busy, but I should have more free time now. Thank you!
Oh, not to mention this is probably going to be one of the longer & more technical chapters so that also adds to the delay. It's been a very fun writing challenge, though. You'll understand what I mean when it's out.
I think I've also finally "warmed up" my writing muscle again. Due to the nature of publishing these episodically, there are a number of details and errors which more in-depth proofreading would most likely catch. But I can see that that would be a monumental task if attempted in one swell foop, since this is essentially a novel. I'd like to publish a "remastered edition" at the end once everything's been written, maybe.

'sup fn'ers!
It's been... a month?! I am so sorry. And to think I had an additional two illustrations in mind for this chapter! I don't think I have much to say other than thank you for your patience + the comments I made above a week ago, apparently.
The only thing I'd like to touch upon again, I guess-- in an effort to be perfectly clownfishparent-- is the usage of AI in this project. I have attached "aposdOutput.txt" which contains the raw AI text outputs, should you be interested in auditing for yourselves the extent to which the text is generated. Furthermore, the steps taken to create the illustration are also attached (minus the photographs from which the characters were traced since those are photos of me). The process was as follows:
1. The scene background was modelled in Minecraft and screenshotted
2. A preliminary trace of the screenshot was made
3. The preliminary trace was fed through ChatGPT to produce a photorealistic rendering
4. I posed and photographed myself then superimposed said photos (not shown) over the AI output
5. I manually traced and colored the composition from my monitor onto physical paper then scanned and processed
Frankly, I could've used the preliminary trace directly. The AI added very little this time around.
<stupid fn'er spacing

I liked it though I did feel like there were some points where I was lost, in particular it took me a second to get the whole dream bit in the beginning and some the passing of scenes in the beginning of the storm.

Of course there’s now the question why did the quartermaster care to rescue Arrehp and how stranded the two are.
