Anyways... what counts as "drawing"? I collage images then trace over them. I hesitate to call that "drawing" but I don't know if it's useful for whatever purpose you have in mind.

I prefer the term "shitpost visually," thank you very much.
kinda

i prefer it slow. if it's too fast it just becomes kinda jarring.
it's my only hobby now other than cooking and doomscrolling
and even cooking is more of a necessity thing rather than something i actually enjoy

lowkey just try doing something else, I used to doomscroll and now I force myself to do anything even playing a game is more productive imo. At least while playing I can recognize when I get bored and it's easier to turn of the computer and go outside

i probably should but it's hard because scrolling is my primary method of (para)social interaction.
i could probably triple my drawing hours if i blocked reddit and twitter on my router

i've completely stopped using reddit and twitter. it's just the same shit over and over again, i've given up on scrolling and trying to find something i might enjoy, it's all just slop

it also helps that now every other post on reddit is some ai slop bot advertising garbage, so it just makes it that much easier to stop using reddit

reddit is completely useless, yeah, but i dont know where i could make friends if not for twitter, even if it is dogshit
all the cozy Discovery Channels are small walled gardens that require you to know somebody before you can get into them. real life is a wasteland, unsurprisingly
i dont know, i feel like im stuck doomscrolling and hoping that i eventually find somewhere that i fit in, or i accept that i'll be a hermit for the rest of my life and stop using the internet entirely so i can focus all of my free time on drawing

i'm fed up with any sort of digital social affairs. it's anything but social, there's just too much artificial hysteria, negativity and "content" that is completely worthless, designed to waste the scarce free time of your life just for per-view profit. this site is pretty much the only "social" place i frequent in the internet, but looking at things as they are, not for long.
real life isnt any better too, all people talk about things i don't understand, and frankly, that i just don't really care about. since the internet became part of every day life and also considering current circumstances they've gotten a lot more negative, selfish, arrogant... it just feels very tiresome and stressful to interact with anyone nowadays.

i've also tried to "fit" in a lot, but it never really worked. after so many attempts, i gave up. figured i'td be better to be honest with myself and just accept that i'll likely never fit in any group or social space anyway.
it's really desolating. i've found myself going outside frequently just to catch some breeze, look at trees and appreciate the silence. it brings peace to my mind. i'm also trying to make things "fit in" to me instead, hope it works.

Aiming to at least put some lines down every day is probably one of the only two positive habits I've adopted in the past few years. The progress is excruciatingly slow however and whenever there is a period of not enough time invested, it regresses. A Sisyphean affair for sure but better than not trying in the first place.

Could this be a sort of self-fulfilling prophecy? Expectations of a negative outcome affecting behavior? In your opinion, what does "fitting in" feel and look like? What does it entail? (not rhetorical questions, it would just help to form a better understanding of what the end goal here is)
Close friends are rare to come by but such friendships usually develop out of ordinary acquaintance so if you don't meet anyone you likely won't suddenly get a bff either.

Sometimes it feels that people either overthink or, well, underthink, the whole social thing. Either way, it's difficult to deny that the internet and the social media in their current form have negatively impacted the way people interact, make friends and form cliques. You'd think things would get much better now that talking to strangers from the other side of the planet is a trivial matter but everything is more shallow these days. People don't value the connections they make as much, I suppose.

>>119346
>all people talk about things i don't understand, and frankly, that i just don't really care about.
Not caring is "normal" (at least to an extent, in any clique conversations will sometimes stray to uninteresting topics, though you can also try and steer them towards what you wish to discuss). Not understanding is weird though, unless it's a generational gap thing or the group is talking about advanced post-grad sort of concepts or something?
> i've found myself going outside frequently just to catch some breeze, look at trees and appreciate the silence. it brings peace to my mind.
That sounds lovely. Far too many people are so consumed by the rat race that they don't even seem to remember that this is an option.
>i'm also trying to make things "fit in" to me instead, hope it works.
Good idea. "Just bee yourself" is a solid suggestion in general, but should come with a caveat of having the ability to analyze one's own shortcomings (objectively negative traits, like insincerity, leaving people hanging, greediness etc) and putting at least some work toward ironing those out.

I try and draw as often as possible but my schedule and workload irl makes it difficult to get the motivation sometimes and so my output is inconsistent. I will say switching artstyles and finding this place has definitely made a difference from where i was before and I definitely think im improving.

I got back into drawing and got ~fairly good at it too because I wanted to try and remember a face not knyowing fur absolute certain if it even exists. Used to draw these dystopian/post-limited-nuclear sorta city-scapes befure I started with faces, and furry faces...
Also uh, you can't stop once you start at times 'cause you gotta give those cartoons that flash inside of yer brain some love. But balance it out with your own comfurt IG.
Wonder what I could draw if I really took my time, though, 'cause I mostly just doodle on papurr. Could maybe try and copy an old cartoon background and add on characters.

An odd couple of times I've gone and tried and drawn people on TV as anthros off of memory and they came out recognizable to me somehow.
