now the question is, if i host a server, do i pony up and get a legit copy (with the added bonus of setting up a dedicated server), or stay a sailor and do peer to peer games. the version i have has something called online-fix, which is a crack that allows to you play "legit" copies of games with the steam multiplayer system. the only problem is, i don't entirely trust it. reddit claims it's safe, but a few people have reported that they got their account stolen after using it. anti-piracy psyops? perhaps, but it is developed by russians
my point is i can't in good conscience recommend people to get a crack that could potentially get them hacked. i've used it before, and to this day i have not noticed any suspicious activity, or strange logins (except for once, but i think that was because i was using a vpn). i also am not on windows, so idk if that somehow protects me from malware. game is $30, which i don't mind paying, but for an anfoo game a bunch of people would have to pay that up. maybe it would be best to wait for a sale?
