Most normies have outsourced their superegos to the group. They are utterly incurious and care vastly more about consensus and feelz than about truth. As a result they constantly seek out external validation from everyone around them. This includes you. You are going to have to interact with them. It isn't enough to smile and nod, either. In each interaction you have to figure out what words they want you to say, and recite them with simulated sincerity. This is the workplace now. Unless you can work from home, and that's become an impossible dream for 99.999% of people, just like home ownership, you are going to be expected to put ten times more effort into this than the stuff that's in your written job description, all day every day.

She will then email all the other morbidly obese HR whales all over town to tell them of your "bad attitude" and "racism," in an attempt to get you blacklisted and make you unemployable. She will likely succeed.
So no, he has to socialize, and he has to make himself charismatic and attractive. He isn't really there to keep the books, or make sales, or solve problems. He is there to be an entertainer and emotional tampon for all the miserable fat "career womyn." This is the white-collar work environment now. It's been like this for decades.
