I kinda stopped reading since finals season and I want to get back into it (in particular /anthro/ reading) now I got more time with summer break. ITT I’ll post stories I’ve read or am reading and talk about them.

I hope you enjoy your books 'gem :) May I recommend the Redwall series by Brian Jacques? A recent post reminded me of its existence, and I remember liking it when I was younger--plus it fits your criteria. Recently I began reading Dune by Frank Herbert, it isn't /anthro/ at all to my knowledge, but I am enjoying it nonetheless!

During his stay anon ended up in a relationship with one of the locals but the issue is these aliens secrete a deadly neurotoxin that makes cohabitation and especially touch deadly for humans. There’s countermeasures but anon and the other humans are forced to wear a hazmat suit around the aliens. I like this story it’s ~4000 words and extremely cute along with having bits of worldbuilding for how humans cope with life on this planet. Only thing it needs is more entry’s in the series but it doesn’t look like any is coming with this story busing published February this year.

In the process they hire a fox guide to lead them there but the next day they discover the guide disappeared in the middle of the night. In true Fox fashion it’s discovered this was a ploy to get with the anon who was into her because she knew he’d look for her and lead the other 11 mercenaries to their deaths by giving them the wrong directions because she didn’t like them. I hope the anon is happy to get turned into a bone broth or some shit. Despite the obvious I am somewhat a sucker for characters like the fox in this story I find the lengths and schemes they do just for love rather charming and it makes my little heart flutter. Story does have some logical jumps and needs a bit more exposition. 6/10

It's annoying because I can read a whole book in a day if I just have the will to do it. If you enjoy sci-fi, there's a series I talked about with another boo here when we played risk of rain 2, which is The Culture series by Iain M. Banks. I love it. I went through the audiobooks for them which isn't as good as reading but it was easier for me so I could actually get it done. Of the mainline culture series books the only one I haven't gone through is Inversions. My favorite of the series is Use of Weapons. I'd start with Consider Phlebas if you do go through it, though I think a lot of people start with the second book Player of Games, since Consider Phlebas is unique in introducing the titular Culture as a background force rather than as a focus point like the other books. It's an interesting introduction to the series, though a lot of the cooler sci-fi stuff doesn't start happening until book 2. Only a few of the books are really chronological so it can be kind of read out of order.

I personally thought it was a sweet story with a bit of mystery about the collapse of society and Vics (the humans) background and trauma. The story also actually has the relationship start halfway through instead of waiting until the last minute which is appreciated. For critique there were some scenes I felt didn’t serve any purpose and I noticed some grammatical and spelling errors but it’s mostly clean. 7/10

I mostly do audiobooks because it's a good alternative to listening to the same music playlists over and over again when I'm driving. I mostly listen to Star Wars ones, I am re-listening to I Jedi for the 3rd time and I finished the Hand of Thrawn Duology and Survivor's Quest a few weeks ago. I think once I'm finished with my re-listen I'll check out some of my Halo or 40k audiobooks since I've neglected those. I've also heard that Gundam has some novelizations but I kind of doubt those would have audiobooks, at least translated into english.
