I kinda stopped reading since finals season and I want to get back into it (in particular /anthro/ reading) now I got more time with summer break. ITT I’ll post stories I’ve read or am reading and talk about them.
https://archiveofourown.org/works/59847502/chapters/152666668
HMOFA fic where the governments of the world have collapsed and due to the apocalypse a human falls out of the sky right into a hermit gators lap in the Everglades.
I personally thought it was a sweet story with a bit of mystery about the collapse of society and Vics (the humans) background and trauma. The story also actually has the relationship start halfway through instead of waiting until the last minute which is appreciated. For critique there were some scenes I felt didn’t serve any purpose and I noticed some grammatical and spelling errors but it’s mostly clean.

Do you guys wanna free book? I don't care. Here. Have a free book. It uses older English unless I selected the wrong one so beware. The ending also just comes out of nowhere but it was still a fun read.

Maybe I should resume reading it. Perhaps it'd do me good to work through the original Spanish instead, even. Type of story that's begging for an anthro rendition in the 80s cartoon style a la Dogtanian. Love the wolf lady, by the way.

I mostly do audiobooks because it's a good alternative to listening to the same music playlists over and over again when I'm driving. I mostly listen to Star Wars ones, I am re-listening to I Jedi for the 3rd time and I finished the Hand of Thrawn Duology and Survivor's Quest a few weeks ago. I think once I'm finished with my re-listen I'll check out some of my Halo or 40k audiobooks since I've neglected those. I've also heard that Gundam has some novelizations but I kind of doubt those would have audiobooks, at least translated into english.

In any case make sure to get an annotated edition, as their notes help a lot in understanding the text.

I ended up reading this mostly as a bedtime book to help put me to sleep when I was nocturnal. It's... well, it's a children's book. But it was a brief and enjoyable enough read.
>>129569
Why?
>>129624
Yes, something roughly in this style, maybe with more... contemporary anthro sensibilities. I love the crustiness of some of these screenshots. Reminds me of stuff I vaguely remember seeing as a kid that I wouldn't even be able to name. Actually, I wonder if there is any relation between whatever studio was responsible for this and Dogtanian. I know the Japanese were involved there too.

Trying to think of some plot lines for shorter stories, I’d imagine everyone would prefer a complete short story than a longer potentially incomplete one. Currently only one I got so far is “human supremacist gets blackmailed on a dating app”.
>>131571
what would a non lame love triangle look like?
Replies: >>131662
>>131658
I feel the worst part about a love triangle is your left with a loser you gotta do something with so instead of having two characters you could root for you have one be the objectively wrong choice and to tie up the losers character with them using their character growth to pursue a healthier relationship with another character.
I’ll go ahead with writing as long as someone says they’ll read it. The biggest failure with my last project is I put down 10 thousand words and not a soul read the thing.

Your IP grabber's broken. I did see that thread or post. I think you mentioned it was formatted like a wiki, right? I'll admit I didn't look at it, but I wouldn't consider it a "failure" given that it's supposed to be just context for an story(es) and not a story itself... I think.
>>131737
You can't expect anyone to get invested into a setting without a story. You can have the most 'interesting' setting imaginable but if it's only presented in the form of a glorified Wikipedia page then most people won't care. Let the story speak for the setting. Show don't tell, bro

C'est la définition même du texte d'ambiance. Le Doom original n'a jamais vraiment eu de véritable scénario. John Carmack lui-même disait que l'histoire de Doom s'apparentait davantage à celle d'un film porno.

Damn. I like almost understood everything you said without the translator.
Carmack likened the game's plot to that of a porn movie, nevertheless meanyang that there is a plot, even if crude and even if the player may opt to ignore it. Though you are correct that the kind of people that care about the game's lore would likely have cared for it even without those blurbs, which seems to be what you're implying. The gameplay does indeed do the heavy lifting there, though one shouldn't ignore the ambient storytelling the progression of the levels themselves tell. There is enough intrigue in that alone to draw nerds into caring about the lore, even if you reduced Doom into a series of drawings or paintings, essentially.
What were we talking about? Oh, yeah: but notice that even if you did that, you'd still have some sort of material being used to draw attention to the lore as opposed to said lore existing in a vacuum. However, I'm sure-- especially nowadays-- that someone'd inevitably give their attention even to lore unattached to any media, like Purrgem's. But don't expect something like that to ever garner the same degree of attention.

Neat short story about a mad scientist with a God complex that made abominations of nature. Despite what I’d been told, it does not feature anthros, since it’s creatures are actually animals molded to look human; the protagonist speaks of them with words like ‘jaw’ and ‘skin’, not ‘snout’ or ‘fur’. These beasts are not perfect creations, which means they eventually revert to their animal forms and behaviours, that’s why an arbitrary Law was imposed on them, dictating what they can’t do, and punishing them if it is broken. This way the author criticizes religion, as the rules are described as something the beastfolk (humans, figuratively speaking) can’t obey at all times (ev&oe it could also be interpreted as a critique of morality itself).
In addition, funnily enough the work shares an argument with Bagi, which deals with the dangers of unethical scientific experimentation.
