NOOOOOOO why did you archive the old thread? I was epically BTFOing OP's whole premise. Ok whatever, reposting here:
I tested the max speed on my e-bike today and confirmed it's a piece of shit and I'm too agoraphobic to use it in this shithole nyagger city anyways. I scheduled clownfishportation for next week. I worked out. I'm still waiting on a client to sign they damn papers. I got another possible client offer. Then I had some shits and giggles on here, another imageboard, and der cord and basically yeah I didn't do shit again, but at least I mostly am back on routine.

A few years ago I'd stay up until 6am and wake up when the sun was going down, that was probably the worst period of my life. You just got to force yourself to go to bed no matter what, regardless of what I wanted to do I forced myself into bed at 10. Sometimes it meant missing a deadline so I dealt with the consequences, but at least I was healthier for it.

I am not a doctor, but does sleeping on the side help? I feel more comfortable sleeping on my side, the back makes me hyperaware and I'm unable to sleep.

What am I looking at here? A homebuilt laser sight?

I've been hand-lapping the bore of a .22 pistol barrel using successively finer grades of abrasive polishing compound purchased at Harbor Freight. Either I'm a genius or I've ruined it. We'll see, I guess.

>but why

There are tool marks in the rifling. Chatter marks on the tops of the lands are visible to the naked eye and do not require a borescope to see. The tops of the lands look like railroad tracks. With some ammunition it fouls with lead to the point of filling the grooves and additionally applying random lumps and globs of lead here and there in < 50 rounds. This requires multiple overnight soaks in solvent and hours of scrubbing during which multiple oversized 6.5mm bronze bristle brushes become worn down to < .22 caliber to get it shootable again.

>But why?

It's fun to shoot when it runs, and very accurate. I've also beveled and polished the extractor hook and replaced the extractor spring in the hopes of improving its reliability further. I've already measured the factory spring and am looking around Granger and McMaster-Carr for stouter replacements that will fit in its slot. Also I tinker compulsively. Somebody stop me before I start talking about mixing motor oil with synthetic wheel bearing grease to make a substitute for LSA.

I finally made a good pot of fried rice fur my dinner tonight which is something I've tried to do over the years and it never seems to turn out well. Usually the rice is just overly mushy and doesnt have much flavor. I used jasmine rice this time and I used spam and pineapple chunks since I wanted to do a hawaiian thing with it, made a sauce with the juice from the pineapple can combined with low sodium soy sauce, sambal oelek and worcestershire sauce. It came out really nicely, the rice was still a little on the mushy side, I knyow you're meant to use day old rice fur it but I wanted it tonight. I wish I hadn't stopped cooking fur a couple of months because I really enjoy it.

I was up entirely too late last night disassembling and reassembling an old Ruger Mk III 22/45. It jammed with a dud round in the chamber. I was able to get the bolt out to remove the dud, but then the hammer stayed in the forward position and I couldn't get the bolt back in. Something was going on with the sear spring, I think. It's not difficult to drive out the pins and take the parts out but I was unable to see whether anything was out of place. You pop out the pins and the parts just drop out of the frame, which is, perhaps unfortunately, not clownfishparent. Getting the parts out wasn't so bad. Getting the sear and sear spring back in was an ordeal, and I am not sure I like the wear pattern on the edge of the sear. Getting the hammer, hammer strut, hammer bushing, safety, magazine safety, and magazine safety spring back in was harder still, and I don't think I'll be doing it again any time soon if I can avoid it. I am already looking around online for a replacement sear and sear spring, though. Maybe I can get away with just replacing the sear if I bend up a new sear spring. Where'd I put that music wire?

Idk about murica but from my experience birdwatching and trekking you can find crazy rare wildlife just minutes walk outside of Civilisation. Like just around the corner from an urban settlement or beach here you can find uncommon animals, seabirds, etc. You really don't need to travel too far at all. Of course that's assuming it's safe to go walking around in the outskirts and that's probably not the case in some regions of the world

Being small it has to be easier to maintain too.
Has the mold compromised their structural integrity? It it's only present in a couple of moist corners in the basement it's probably treatable right? Not as bad as wasting so much time every day on commute.

In some parts of the US, some local governments hold that a significant degree of mold growth can be grounds to condemn a building as "unfit for human habitation," seize the property, and demolish the house. Are things different in (*checks flag*) Finland?
Replies: >>120600 >>120608
>>120599
They can condemn a building with a 'ban on habitation', but this is very rare, from what I understand. At least I have never heard of this happening to anyone.
What is more relevant to me is that the bank will simply not give me a mortgage if the house has mold, water damage or otherwise is in dire need of some renovation.
>>120595
I browse Swedish (close enough right?) real estate websites for ideas and while the older buildings (usually pre-1950) are often in a sorry state but aside from some barns/sheds I haven't seen something that screamed "unsafe"; nothing a bit of fixing-upping wouldn't solve anyway.

> I'm tired of being a rentoid
Right on.

>serious--- risk to health.
Afaik most molds can be dealt with (though if it's a post&beam house you may end up having to tear open the inner walls). Better deal with them asap, they can cause lung issues, screw that.
But also bear in mind that it's not like when you're renting you are guaranteed to never have mold in the walls unbeknownst to anyone.

The roof seems to have been taken care of not too long ago, and the slope on the main building is steep enough to not have to worry about the snow loads. The part above the entrance is the weakest point, and the snow guard is not helping; never understood why people install those.

Ladders and catwalks leading to every chimney and vent is very cool.
Not sure what the ladder leading to the second floor window(behind the thuja) is for. State-mandated fire escape route?

>>120599
> some local governments hold that a significant degree of mold growth can be grounds to condemn a building as "unfit for human habitation,"

nVidia doesn't want people buying their gaming cards and using them in rendering workstations like lots of people were doing when they brought out the 24GB RTX Titan. People were buying them and using them instead of the almost-identical 24GB RTX Quadro 6000 they were trying to sell at five times the price. They forced all their manufacturing partners to cripple their specs to clamp down on this. There are some Chinese card builders who don't care, which is why you can find RTX 3060s with 12GB if you look. nVidia has been pretty successful in boosting the sales of their top-end high-VRAM workstation cards this way, though.

Well, there is an expectation of a social contract in which you try your best to be a good neighbor that does not interfere with other people's lives. If you receive a notice that you have, in fact, been interfering with people and to cease it, it is to be expected that such instructions, even if written (especially if written) is to be obeyed.

Not everyone is a goy beholden to the soycial contract. And even if they are, immediately resorting to inflammatory language is probably more likely to spur on the behavior ev&o I don't expect asking politely would've had much of an impact either tbf.

Blast black metal or White rap louder than him, if that doesn't work, blast his head off with a shotgun.
>>121093
It may also be that the individual just cannot read, at least in Finnish.
Noise levels during night hours are also subject to regulations and much as it sucks dealing with the police it's possible to sic them upon him.

Used to have a neighbor who would spend the nights watching crime dramas on TV almost every night, with volume cranked up so high you could almost (but not quite) make out what the actors were saying. But he was old and had a number of conditions from cancer to difficulties hearing, so it felt wrong asking him to keep quiet.. Whenever he had to go anywhere, he would shuffle instead of walking, and at night you could sometimes hear him trip and fall.
Would've rather had a rap wigger living there instead, at least there'd be moral grounds for confronting him.

Stressful day at work again. I wish something like indie game development was a more, "guaranteed" way of making a living. I'd much rather do that as a career path. But I don't think you're guaranteed to even make a cent off of anything you make with how much the market is saturated. So I'll probably just get into game dev as a side hobby for enrichment instead and just continue my job, unfortunately. I don't like working for someone else, I'd much rather be my own boss, but the job market isn't in a very good spot for career experimentation right now, if I lose my job I'm fluffed big time

>work for the man
>triple-ay studio
>game is a cookie cutter 3pp survival with crafting in UE
>dei, purple-haired writers, target audience is board of investors, the whole package
>half a year leading up to the release is a piss-bottle-under-the-desk-mattress-in-the-wardrobe crunch
>get laid off the day before the release

>work for yourself
>game is a retro metroidvania roguelite in unity
>competing against 829 other metroidvania roguelites coming out the same week; only 2-3 are gmi while the rest are doomed to sink into oblivion, buried beneath gems like sea cucumber simulator and gardening gnome strip poker gacha in space 4
>winners are often picked not by merit but by chance and marketing
Relying on it financially must feel like playing roulette with one's life.

That leaves out getting funding from smaller investors or kickstarter but both are are likewise a gamble.

i tend to loosely base species off of human ethnicities, though it's not always set in stone. femcel is serbian, but cats technically come from africa. i guess fennecs could also be aryan/aryan adjacent. i don't think arabs have long straight blonde hair. though the goat nazis might not like fennecs, for fennecs are not herbivores. maybe they put their differences aside them to fight the jew. fennecs don't eat goats, but only bugs and rodents (jews), unlike wolves which eat goats

I have tried it before without threadlocker. Sometimes it sort of works, sometimes not so much. We know it's possible because threadlocker wasn't invented until the 1950s. Optical sights go back a lot further, and were generally heavily dependent upon lots and lots of torque applied to mount screws to keep them pointed in the same direction as the barrel.

Could have been worse, at least these days we get automatically generated captions, with reasonable accuracy. The subtitles for the vid appear to be 80ish percent accurate, with another 10% recoverable through contextualization.
The vid seems to be going in circles dancing around the topic of "knightcore", a musical genre mostly influenced by black metal and laden with post-irony. Lots of witty analogies and thorough editing though. Still, it focuses on the music (and probably short ig reels or something) and not on the big picture. E.g. Monty Python has been brought up only only to showcase how nicely knightcore fits onto it despite unc-era internet having teemed with gifs and screencaps from it. Dark Souls is mentioned in passing (but many times) whereas it seems to have defined the dark medieval setting in the 10s. And so forth.

Kino. Being used to getting by innawoods seems like such a handy trait. Gives a person peace of mind and extra confidence. On top of just being a comfy sort of experience and a reprieve from the digital dystopia.

Been meaning to go since forever but even the upcoming kayaking trip planned a few months back is now in jeopardy. For now single daytrips and short mushroom-picking promenades it is.
Also ticks. Thousands of them. Hasn't always been like that. Used to be you'd only occasionally see them on stray dogs. Nowadays even a short walk through the brush leads to a few of them hanging onto the clothing, or worse. Nightmarish.
Last night I dreamed about a complex designed like a prison essentially. The idea of the building was to convince the inhabitants that the sun had been destroyed so the rest of the world had died and they were living in a bunker essentially, if the world was dead why leave? To accomplish this about a mile around the facility is completely dead, everything past that is fine but the surroundings of the place are dead, there are no windows that lead outside, the doors that lead outside only open at night and everyone gets corroded back inside before sunrise. It’s essentially an open air prison as the only thing that stops you from leaving is an unlocked gate and fence. In the dream I call the bluff and go outside where I find out the world is still alive as the sun rises.

A static logo - with text! - over a customizable background looks atrocious. Thought it would be like a huge semi-clownfishparent textless logo in one of the corners, positioned beneath the custom background layer thus obscured by it. Mindboggling how those companies have been around for decades and still haven't figured out what makes for a bad addition to the visuals.

Congrats, man.
I was back in my high school homeroom, but this time it was stocked with candies and drinks and the like. All four walls were basically lined with refrigerators. Anyways, I was there alone and I really wanted this fudge candy but you had to pay for it and I did not want to spend money. So I simply resolved not to. However, this fat black girl walked in and apparently we were furriends. She said something like "Dayum dis place be full of good stuff n.shieet". I agreed then I showed her the fudge candy, but here's the rub: this brand used a racist caricature as its mascot and somehow it had gotten away with it up to the present day. So I prefaced showing it to her by saying something like "I know it sucks and this is offensive and blah blah blah, but..." and then she completed for me, predicting exactly what I was about to say, "... but it's good". Then I told her I really wanted one but I also didn't want to spend any money. So she grabs one, pops it open and just hands it to me after having a bit herself. Then I protest, "but I don't want to spend any money". She replies as she leaves, something along the lines of, "you stupid" but not too harshly, like a furriend.
I eat up the fudge but decide I'm going to pay. But before I get the chance, all my classmates somehow materialize along with an Indian (I think, though clearly raised here in the US or highly Americanized) substitute teacher. He goes on to tell some anecdote involving a Guatemalan woman and how he "detected" that their morals conflicted, so he touched her and clownfishmogrified her very character to pass on his own morality in a way that only makes sense in a dream and which I can't really describe. All I can say is that it visually resembled the way the fudge almost seemed to melt when touched, briefly becoming an icy white.
The dream ended there and I awoke with the funny idea of asking Femcelanon for help identifying a semifamous brand of fudge which came in a small glass container and which had somehow gotten away with using a racist caricature of a black person as its mascot up until now. This is probably because I was working on something I told him about before falling asleep, if I had to guess and also because he made the headlines here recently, I suppose and is suddenly the object of a bit of attention. Idk I just woke up and I'm going back to sleep and I typed this out on my phone so sorry for mistakes and all that.

dad hated the Vegemite, i found it meh, just really salty with some faint cereal aftertaste. sticks on everything and sucks to clean it off.
the Whittaker's caramel banana candy however was quite possibly the tastiest chocolate bar i've ever eaten, genuinely good stuff.

I had the inspection today. Given its age as a pre-war house, the condition was okay, just aged. Some minor water damage, no mold.
There are some unclear things in regard to the plumbing. Water doesn't go where it should, or the pressure is off. I will have a professional pipe man expert check it out.
If the plumbing is fine too, then this'll be my home forever more. Then, I can finally by a Knight.
>A knight?
I have this thought that to attain happiness as a man, you must knightmaxx.
A knight has a manor, I have this house.
A knight has a horse, I have this 21 year old car.
A knight has his armaments, I have a 12-gauge shotgun.
A knight has his liege, I serve the state.

Right on. Bear in mind, some plumbing issues can be easy to solve, some not so much, there's just not enough data to hypothesize yet.
E.g. if the house has its own water well the problem can be as easily solvable as replacing the water pump, but it could be that the well itself is shitty and pumps wear out all the time. If it's a rusted pipe then it could be easily accessible, or it can be hidden behind a bunch of bricks and require dismantling a part of the wall or a lot of digging.

The water in this here house is connected to the provincial water network. The pipes, though, are a mish-mash throughout the ages. There's some random composite pipes and some ancient cast-iron ones.
I keep my fingers crossed that it's all easily fixable. I do really like this house. While it's an hour's drive from work, at least I don't have to live -in- the capital, which is quite, well, negroified.
The price, too, is something I got lucky on. It being a foreclosure house, I negotiated it to a mere 65,000€. Houses in the area tend to be more than double that.

Good luck! If the pipes are reachable and the problem is indoors it should be ez to replace anything (or everything really). There's two commonly used type of pipes these days, one is rigid and you "weld" them together by using a special but simple tool. The other is flexible, you cut them and put metal fittings on their ends.
Both require like 70IQ to work with so you can DIY later instead of splurging on a plumber to do the entire house right away. The second type (PEX) is probably better in this case. Easier to adjust, more robust. Just need to watch a youtube tutorial on it; the idea is to make sure the pipe goes past the rubber o-rings before tightening.

If the problem is between the municipal tap and the ingress indoors it's probably safer to let them do the thing instead as it requires digging and insulation, and that pipe failing in winter would suck.

Indeed. We shall see what the pipe extraordinaire diagnoses. If it's anything I can do myself, I certainly will.

I wrote up that wall of text immediately after waking up. Somehow I was still convinced that that fudge must be a real product. Now I'm disappointed because it was so good. You mean a raid on this website? That would suck and I'd apologize if I were ever the cause of one, but I don't really care if some random nyaggers online laugh at me. I mean what can they say?
"There's a socially awkward freak going by a hundred different retarded names using this furry ahh website. LOL what a loser!"
I probably made this sound more melodramatic than it really is, especially by saying you guys are all I have which is not actually true and even if I was completely furriendless as I was for a time, I would not really care. None of this really distresses me. I'm a weirdo. I was just objectively responding to the question of why I don't join game nights. Text is fine, but add the extra sensory channel of voice and a time limit to respond to things and suddenly conversation becomes overwhelming to me. With text you can compose and revise your message for virtually as long as you want to be as correct and articulate or as incorrect and dumb as you need to be. And ahh basically it's the roof rats like kazeanon said.

Anyways, we lost him, but we had to go to sleep so either Moon Cricket slept with us or escaped, but I went to bed with the idea in my head that it would leap onto my head in the middle of the night. Serious take: if you are not a trust fund baby or a natural born gigachad, and if you have to ask whether you're either of these things, you're not, you are better off not being approached by women. A woman who approaches a man who doesn't fall into either, or, preferably, both of those categories, is going to be, and I am choosing my euphemisms carefully, a psychological outlier. This is a polite way of saying she's going to be batshit, and you do not need that in your life, ever. You especially do not need that when you're going to college, taking on infinite debt on a gamble that you will succeed in your classes in your chosen field of study, which will allow you to pay back the money before you die. I could go on and on about the evo-psych aspects, but it is sufficient to say there's a reason women, who take all the risks and bear all the physical burdens of reproduction, are the pursued and men are the pursuers. A woman might possibly approach a man if she perceives that he is genetically superior (looks are a proxy for this) or commands superior resources (money). If she is approaching you and you don't have either of these things, she doing this because she is bugfluff. Run. Run for your life.

i had one of those dreams where your like in real life but not really and you can sink back into the dream world if you give up i think.
i was super sleepy in that transitory dream world version of reality but i wanted to wake up so it felt like my limbs were really heavy and trying to move would be really hard. i was listening to something on my headphones also so i thought that was stopping me from getting mobility so i end up getting the strength to mute it. idk if that was i the irl dream world but it did happen because when i woke up my dac was muted also.
also it felt like i was suffocating also so i had to move myself around so i would not die or whatnot but i did give in and went to the 2nd episode of my dream (i forgot the first one) and went on until i woke up. also in the transitory dream world i was kind of screaming also but since im a moidfoid it sounded kind of weird and i dont think anyone heard. so i probably just feel asleep to the dream world 2 because of it.
ok now for dream world 2 scenario.
i kind of forgot but i was in a canyon and i was playing a game with other people where we shot each other with pistols with riot shields kind of like a vr game. i think more interesting things happened but best of zach2 but it was because of lessons of meme culture and he got exposed for something idk but it was proably another timeline on the internet/youtube so maybe if it was stuck in its pandemic era culture and it was not corporate but there was a bunch of animator youtubers and they felt really like i said that they probably came from another timeline and exsist there. proably because jaiden animations and odds1one out did not exist either.
but my dream was still interesting also because i think i shot 2pac also but just a video of his death that made it seem like i was. ok but i was one of those dreams that felt relvent for some reason.

Oh I finally had another proper dream since I'm adjusting now to this biphasic sleep schedule. It was a pretty fun thriller too. In it, I reminisced about my childhood where, apparently, I had been sent to Mars as some sort of test subject along with other kids and a few adults. The cool part is that the decreased gravity actually worked and I got to jump around and off a base building, though it was definitely exaggerated and more like Moon gravity. Anyways, as for the plot of the dream itself, I can't really remember much of it, but the jist of it is that we managed to get by just fine for a bit but then all sorts of strange occurrences and apparitions took place. Aliens and ghosts, basically, but I can't remember much more than that vague description. Eventually, we managed to get cars and car infrastructure set up and I recall lamenting how we were already repeating the same mistakes we made back on Earth in the US regarding muh walkability.
I don't know if this was a separate dream, but at some point I was on the side of the road on Earth again, looking for or having obtained a surfboard or skimboard. But it was snowy where I was, so I'm not sure why I was looking for one. Anyways, Kim Jong Un and a driver(?) pull over and ask me where they can obtain a surfboard and other Western paraphernalia themselves. I point in the direction of the store I'd just come from (?) and say, "Russia." Then they head off in that direction after thanking me. I just keep walking.
Finally, I had another dream where the Earth's layout was different. There was a massive lake or sea extending from about the Central US up to Alaska or basically this super tall icy peak somewhere in the Far North (which I remember from another dream) and I was intent on getting there (maybe by surfing?). Lol. I don't really remember much more than that, though.
Sorry. I always glide type these on my phone kind of hastily so it probably reads kind of funny.

To be fair, most store clerks aren't picked for being the most knowledgeable, it's just that their job opportunities are limited and they took what they could.
Specialized stores like pharmacies, radioshack etc are different though, they are expected to know their stuff. If they don't, that's a shame. It's always a pleasure to meet a worker who is enthusiastic about the goods he's selling and eagerly shares relevant stories and offers suggestions.
But again let's reminisce of the time when Microsoft were peddling their videogame console by having smart-looking people talk about "highest quality pixels" with a serious face.

Clearly a canid, nothing pointing towards a fox or a wolf in particular though (a maned wolf maybe? But those aren't really wolves). I've always lived my life the intended, correct way. But this really sucks. Why must I get dogged at every step of the way?
After I reach the final personal milestone this year, I don't really know what to do. Just... live life? For the rest of my life? Just like this? I've always thought that we don't have many days, and while in some way it is true... there are still around 60 years of stagnation and rotting left.
I think I'm getting here too early. While everyone else was having fun experiencing their youthful lives, I was Knightmaxxing, not knowing that my life would be over once I become a Knight.
What now? With the final piece in place, all I would be striving for, for the rest of this existence, are surrogate activities. I can make giraffegoty drawings, giraffegoty game mods, giraffegoty games, hunting animals, but it's all just advancing time until I finally die. No, I can't die early. God forbids suicide.
Moreover, what is worse, that I even want offspring to continue my accursed bloodline. When even I can barely cling on myself, I want to create new life, despite it only continuing the cycle of Judaic Ass respect.

I had an unusually good afternoon at the range. I did this at 25 yards, the longest distance available at that particular indoor range, using a .22 rifle, the cheapest bulk-pack ammunition I could get, and an airsoft green dot sight + an airsoft 3x magnifier. I shot from a half-assed bench rest using a stool and a rickety hollow plastic rest, in a hurry, on a crowded range, and still did this well while zeroing the dot. The average for the three groups is about 3.2 minutes of arc, which is supposedly right about the limit of accuracy of which this particular ammo is capable. This is significant because for the first time it appears to be the ammunition that is the principal limiting factor rather than the loose nut behind the trigger. I do not know what to think. It makes me wonder what I would be capable of if all of my equipment weren't "the rifle we have at home" / "the optical sight we have at home" / "the ammunition we have at home." Or maybe it was a fluke and I should leave it be rather than spend more money only to be disappointed.

last time i was at a range i had a hot casing bounce off a wall and land in between my glasses and my eye. i may or may not have panicked and flagged everyone else with a gun trying to get a burning piece of metal off my eye. i guess my making fun of women having casings land in between their cleavage has caught up to me

It happens to everyone if you spend enough time at the range.

And yes, some .22 bolt-actions are very accurate. We live in a time when you are have lots of off-the-shelf choices with really high quality barrels, capable of really good accuracy. It's no longer necessary to get something custom built to get really good accuracy. Though it is also true that ammunition has deteriorated in quality, due mainly, I think to multiple ongoing large-scale wars. The manufacturers are boxing up the floor sweepings and shipping them.

Oddly, I used a semiauto rifle for this. Since I don't want to get accused of shilling for anyone's products, I won't talk about brand names. I made an impulse purchase this spring. I got a substantial discount on it for applying for a sporting goods chain's credit card, and it's been pretty solid, though I think this particular model, with its polymer receiver and plastic sights, is overpriced for what it is and best approached by looking for a used one--or if you happen to be in a place that's offering 10% off if you sign up for their credit card in the store. It's been more reliable than I expected, though I will admit I'm obsessive about proper cleaning. The trigger is kind of horrid and the design does not really lend itself to much improvement that won't cause reliability problems with the cheap bulk pack .22 ammo I generally buy, so I am pondering the pros and cons of just sticking a reduced power disconnector spring and reduced power trigger return spring in it and calling it good. I have been advised against trying to polish the engagement surfaces of the hammer and sear because they might possibly be case hardened, and grinding through the hard outer layer is a very good way to make Bad Stuff happen.

I am also looking over target scopes with much higher magnification. Occasionally bottom-end-of-sorta-okay stuff shows up used on eBay, or you can try your luck with the various mall-ninja-endorsed brands, *cough* airsoft *cough* or even the bottom-of-the-barrel, never-heard-of-them, brand-name-is-unpronounceable-alphabet-soup Amazon specials. You may get something that will help you learn valuable lessons about optics, starting with the fact that you can't magnify your way out of poo poo pee pee quality glass. ("It says it's twenty-five power magnification, so that means I should be able to see that target at three hundred yards just as well as if it were twelve yards away, right?" "Welllllllllllllllll...") Good quality lenses cost money. QC costs money. Some of the cheapest mounts aren't great either, but the differences aren't as great. And then we go into reticle design. I can't prove it but I suspect that some manufacturers, particularly in the aforementioned mall ninja segment of the market, deliberately put reticles that are overdesigned, cluttered, all but unusable pee pee poo poo in their "entry level" line in order to upsell prospective customers on a reticle that's actually usable. But then I am a horrible person with an evil, nasty, suspicious mind.

Not a dream journal, and I don't care to try getting into the details of what that was about other than that it was feverish and disorientating, but I just woke up after suddenly feeling an overwhelming "sense that something terrible was about to happen". I opened my eyes and my vision was flickering like mad, but eventually I could make out that my blinds were up and my window was open, and that the sky was a dark, cloudy orange, like it was burning or I had just woken up to see its crackling embers. I went to move my arm to turn the light on and check myself but I could barely move it because of how numb it felt, and I think the lights didn't work when I did use the switches. When I closed my eyes again, I saw the shifting, acid-dyed imprint of a room with a door, panel or window, and a pedestal upon which I first saw a toilet, and then a turquoise plastic bottle. After that, my vision cleared up and I saw that my blinds were mostly down after all, and that my grandmother was in the kitchen making coffee for herself (it's four in the morning). All of that seems to line up with the "symptoms" of sleep paralysis, but I expecting that to be a longer, more intense experience. If I am going to die in a freak accident or have my body give out soon, it would happen tomorrow and not today, but I hope this was a premonition of a little something grander than that. The sky was so beautiful, I wish I could've gotten up to watch it from a better angle.

This might interest you. I had a surprisingly vivid dream during my second sleep today. My mother, in the dream, awoke me from it by attacking me with a serrated steak knife in one hand, and either a different utensil or simply a second steak knife in the other. I'm not sure how genuine her conviction was. Most comically, she shouted Fat Albert's catchphrase as she rushed at me. I then pointed out Bill Cosby's sexual offenses which seemed to sadden her. This, in turn, disarmed her-- not literally, but she ceased her attempts at stabbing me. Earlier in the dream, I remember musing about what it must be like to be stabbed, in the middle of the living room. I think I may have manifested some sort of hostile figures which stabbed me, but I didn't really feel anything. This manifestation was either the cause or result of that musing. The tone of the dream was an orange-brown feeling which was simultaneously terrifying and humorous, which you may have already gathered from the strange juxtaposition of violence and comedic nonsense. A description of color that only makes sense in dreams, similar to the one you posted, at least visually and superficially.
There was some other stuff in that dream but that's perhaps the most interesting to post, and I'm also not really in the mood to type up all the rest.

Interesting. I've thought of inducing it before myself-- however I'd even go about doing that. I think my intent was to use it as a means of training my stress response. I'm still interested in using lucidity to conjure up nightmares to defeat all my fears one by one.

My sleep schedule is still messed up, passing oht in afternoon too exhausted... and I had weird and wild dreams (that's normal).
An unsettling horror rpgmaker game-like dream that I assume most would consider a nightmare, but as usual I find it interesting and dont wake in shock. Strange faces with odd lore in a room on a wall, looking back at me, extremely uncanny and malformed as I view them in FPP. Dreams transition weirdly, but Another where I was trapped with family by a large isopod looking arachnid monster that appears docile once it seals you in its lair, feeds you good tasting chocolate like substance she secretes, but as you become weary administers poison to you that kills you in seconds. The lair is just a massive room we stumbled into and that was perma sealed behind us- I was totally aware of what we were dealing with and what happened, so I already knew we were doomed and in a dire death-certain situatiom even if the monster seems nice, docile, and giving. I call my sibling in dire need to save us but she ends up getting poisoned which puts me in an extreme emotional state. Really sad. That dream transitioned to a ninja-like dream, running on old asian terraces, and a savepoint (from prior dream) I made mistakenly near an insectoidal cocoon holding an old warlock that then starts chasing me and the person im with slowly with the aim of zombifying us. The mood of the air was of bluez cloudy, dark, but still can see like dusk, dense foggy terraces on a ridge. I lamented to my companion "shit this save is in the worst spot, dont touch that thing" and he poked it just to test the waters and the warlock started to awaken so we started bolting.

Guess that's a little dream journal
I'm still awake. I'm flipping my schedule full nocturnal. Fluff the sun.
Alas, my body really wants me to fall asleep. I'm starting to do the thing where I hallucinate sounds and the music. Good night.

Does this happen to anyone else? If you try to fight sleep you start "hearing" pseudo-sounds and music in your mind every time your head droops?
I wish it were possible to be simultaneously drowsy and cognizant enough to write down the things I hear in the liminal period between wakefulness and slumber. Some of the most divine music I've ever heard has been there. If only I could "sneak" it out of there. It might be possible, just really tiring forcing oneself abruptly out of it to write things down immediately before they're lost, only for the resultant image to pale in comparison to the thing perceived.

I thought for a second "well, of course, it's what the French do, isn't it?" only to learn that it's actually snails they eat and at least one person suffered a rather horrific death because of eating a slug. No, never. Catching naps during long flights aside, don't tend to go to sleep in a position where a head could droop either (unless that was meant proverbially). Sounds unhealthy.

For what it's worth however, waking up to an alarm earlier than usual when
already sleep deprived often results in a tune getting stuck in the half-lucid mind. Usually an earworm caught the evening before; other times just something randomly heard within the past week or so. Kind of annoying actually, like you really don't want to fully wake up yet but also don't want to hear the same thing over and over again.
But sometimes, very rarely, it is a seemingly original tune. Not unpleasant, long enough to become a backbone or a leitmotif for something grander. But the window of opportunity between waking up enough and having the tune erased forever is quite narrow, and preserving it is usually not on the to-do list for the morning.

Neither do I, which is why I said it happens when "you try to fight sleep," sitting at a desk, for example, not when trying to sleep proper. Even when actually trying to sleep normally, I'll sometimes experience similar visions, sounds, etc. in the hypnagogic phase too. Some very interesting stuff seems to happen when the conscious and subconscious minds interact so directly.
This psychonautic BS has intrigued me for a while, but I've not really had time nor am I so sure I'm ready to explore my psyche properly. Expies are built to last.
Caffeine and melatonin are my very best furriends. Tonight I'm staying up 'til 0600, which means my first sleep is now 3 hours long which is good since that naturally aligns with approximately 2 sleep cycles. And now most of my sleep is in the second (afternoon) sleep for about 3 cycles (from about 1330/1400 to 1800). It is really blissful at night without all the noise and people around. Someone does have to inhabit places with extreme climates when those have resources the humanity needs, e.g. Oil, uranium, rare earth metals.
As for the places with stable seasonal changes, pic 1 is useful, but does not tell the whole story. It's very averaged in places, showing Alps to be as stable as Nice area, for example, and a viewer has to take into account that getting +40C all year round is pretty bad.

Comparing it with pic 2 we can see that most of humanity is already spread across the mode moderate area (coastal areas near equator marked in grey and moderate latitude areas marked in purple). It is odd to see Japan marked mostly blue when with the exception of Hokkaido it's fairly temperate.
At the same time there are lots of places like Toronto that do have considerate population densities but experience temperature swings. Hypothetically, if they were to relocate somewhere, where could they go? All the good places are claimed already.

Southern Europe used to be considered peak comfy but lately it's gotten too hot. This summer they have been *charred*.

Alaska has bloodsucking flying insects in two sizes: small enough to fly through the square gaps in window screen, and large enough to pry the window open and climb in. They are active continuously during those months of the year when it isn't snowing. Be careful what you wish for.

also everything costs five times as much, the Arctic and near-Arctic day/night patterns have driven people to suicide, the Alaska Pipeline was completed fifty years ago and you are NOT going to find a job working on it, Anchorage is full of tweekers, and the rest of the state's microscopic handful of inhabitants are pretty much all either methhead trailer trash or paint-huffing Eskimos

That kind of gnats is so much worse than mosquitos. Couldn't find a small enough mesh and ended up just stretching thin synthetic fabric over the mosquito screen on some of the windows and leaving the rest of the windows closed when they are abound.

Luckily, you can often feel them crawling on your skin (these bites they will not heal) before they dig in if you are sensitive enough and they can't fly too well when it's windy and don't seem to like the sun much, kind of like the (much larger) mosquitoes.

But worry not, further down south there is a growing population of tiger mosquitoes, imported from China a few decades back and steadily growing and spreading ever since. Those mosquitoes are even more aggressive and don't mind the sun or the heat. Each batch of eggs is more cold-resistant than the last. They are coming. Woe upon those who settle in places that aren't normally breezy.

Pic only mildly related.

Erm... it's actually a "Mediterranean forests, woodlands and scrub" biome as "defined by the World Wide Fund for Nature". Also, it wouldn't be so bad if we were smart enough to build underground or with adobe at least... or if I just set up my AC, but boy does the air here get stale fast.

See above. I will join one of their tribes. trust. But actually, I do hate mosquitoes. Though I suppose it's also cool enough to be able to wear thick enough clothing to block them out.
I don't think I'm susceptible to seasonal affective disorder the way most others are. I've been loving this increasingly nocturnal schedule I've taken on recently. And I'm always happiest come winter. If anything, summer makes me lethargic.
If I can keep my remote California income, I think I'm covered with regard to expenses. I don't plan on spending more then $5k/yr. on necessities. If all goes well, I'll be hunting and fishing... if all goes well...
That was my plan for a while, anyhow. I was dead set on living off-grid in Alaska because the pretty pictures and mountains and snow and ice age scenery mesmerized my child mind. And it does seem one of the least tainted places remaining on Earth, with regard to human habitation. But maybe these fantasies are all a product of having experienced nothing but the city for 99.9% of my life. Nowadays, I still would like to visit, maybe own a small cabin there that I can stay at in the summer and just one other place down here for the winter, but I realize things are hardly ever what they seem.
Are you from there?

Relatives who went up there to try their luck long ago came back with recommendations against it.

https://youtu.be/f389hIxZAOc is Canadian but apparently the same insect species are present, and for those few months of the year when it isn't snowing, their numbers blacken the Alaskan skies.

Between that and the impression I get that Anchorage resembles Portland in all the worst ways, and the resemblance grows with each passing year, I would suggest looking elsewhere.

There is, the scholars tell us, something deeply buried, inherent to the American character, that makes us all have it in the back of our minds at all times the idea that in the worst case we can just head out to the frontier and start over. Alaska is the last place left that isn't more or less full already. Lots of people since the Second World War have decided to go up and build a hut in the gorgeous, unforgiving bush, maybe with the intent of raising a family. Some of them learned fatal, final lessons. See also, Christopher McCandless.

And if you aren't intent on a one-man homestead, town life there is not greatly different than where you currently live, except for the weather being vastly worse and everything being enormously more expensive because it has to be shipped up from the lower 48. $5K a year for necessities is not going to go far.

To be fair, that's broad enough to also apply to parts of Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria, the same areas that are a hop skip and a jump from Sahara.

>it wouldn't be so bad if we were smart enough to build underground or with adobe
Mmm, framed house with OSB&tyvek, covered with pretty siding or fake bricks and asphalt shingles? Typical construction practice for the overwhelming majority of single-family housing in the US, for better or worse, alas.

To be fair, California is one of those places where one of the key arguments in favor of timber houses is valid: they fare better during earthquakes (bang for the buck anyway; had it been such an issue there wouldn't be a single smyscrespectr anywhere close to the San Andreas rift).
It is still silly watching them build houses out of matches in areas where forest fires happen often, or in the tornado valley. The constant rebuilding must be a part of the economy by now, possibly culture as well (no multi-generational homes, people constantly moving, selling, renting, mortgaging, so long-term planning is not considered as much).
Framed houses aren't all bad and have their own advantages. In a general case a stone/brick/concrete building is comfier and safer to live in, but a well-made framed one would be far superior to a shoddily constructed adobe.

>build underground
It's not *that* big of a deal but one has to keep in mind that basements tend to accumulate moisture in hot summer months to the point where one has to run a dehumidifier which is not that different from an AC.

>wait what

I think I've encountered these here before already, actually, not too long ago. I decided to go hiking up into the San Gabriel mountains and was swarmed by these little fly-like insects I'd never encountered before. I assumed they were harmless enough so I didn't even really bother swatting them away unless they got annoyingly close to my face, until I started to itch maybe an hour or two later. Oops. Not so harmless, after all. They seem a lot less bothered by DEET as well, but I'd probably just layer up, like I said.
Yeah, I think, universally, cities tend to collect dross. I'm not really intent on living in any city, though. With that said, how much worse than Los Angeles can Anchorage be?
>There is, the scholars tell us, something deeply buried, inherent to the American character... Alaska is the last place left that isn't more or less full already...
"American boy, American girl, most beautiful people in the world, son of a frontier Indian swirl"
That assessment's mostly correct, I think. Wherever it is I go, there'll always be that lamentation in the back of my head at that I'm carving out just one more nook of this already-teeming continent.
>See also, Christopher McCandless.
Lots in common between him and I, archetypally at least.
>And if you aren't intent on a one-man homestead
I am.
>$5K a year for necessities is not going to go far
That's the figure I came up with for off-grid living down here, where sun's a-plenty to provide for electricity. Imported water made up the bulk of that reckoning, which may not be so great a concern in a place like Alaska. For food, my intent is to live entirely off hunting & fishing. A pipe dream wherein a billion things are only bound to go wrong, I know, but-- though that's the optimistic figure-- it's not the amount I intend to set my income to. Sun's not quite so bountiful up there in the winter, but summer should make up for that.

Morocco's climate and biome is not too dissimilar to the one here. I know that much. Never been to those other two countries, though.
Stick framing's really convenient, yes. That wattle-and-daub pic you attached is basically a hybrid system between earthen and wood-framed construction. You might be right about the humidity issue with going underground, though I'm also sure there must be some solution devised a while ago probably by means of adequate venting and draining to the more arid exterior. Seemed to work well enough for Forestiere in Fresno and the Pueblo Indians. And adobe seems to have been the preferred material for the Spaniards who arrived later as well. Looks like the building codes are gearing up for it to become more commonplace soon (in decades).
>how much does a medevac from a remote homestead in Alaska cost
Probably more than my life's actually worth. Always keep money saved for such emergencies, but, frankly, if you're that far away from the world, you must acknowledge that there's a good chance you can simply meet death at a moment's notice. Such is life.

I have just disassembled a cheap .22 pistol. The purpose was to get the barrel and trunnion out of the polymer frame so that I could soak it in solvent without fear of damaging the plastic bits. The barrel and trunnion are going to soak for a few days. When it finishes soaking and I scrub it out, then I get to try to put the bag-o'-little-parts back together again. Well, maybe before that I need to call the manufacturer's customer service. A disassembly video I watched said that there's supposed to be a little 3D printed polymer wedge (a part not appearing on the official parts diagram) in the frame underneath the trunnion to keep it more stable in the frame, to correct a problem the early production ones had with the breech end of the barrel shifting around, which caused extraction and ejection problems. Mine didn't have one when I took it apart, and it's always had extraction and ejection problems. Maybe they will let me buy one. Maybe they'll tell me I'm retarded. Maybe I can whittle a little shim out of wood and jam it in there. Wish me luck, guise.

Every sunday I get into a mood where I think about my job and I get an immense sense of loathing for it. I make good money and it's not terribly hard but I despise working for someone else. On top of that, I'm a defacto primary income provider for my family at the moment and I doubt I could get another job, so the stress of not wanting to fluff anything up gets to me. I don't care whatsoever for the content of my job and I feel like I do my job entirely out of fear of losing it, which is a poor motivator.

I have a problem with apathy in general and a big problem with procrastination. Since I can work from home, and since I get little and poor quality sleep, what I end up doing is I take naps during the work day and leave work for later, sometimes the evenings but often times just not doing much at all. The most stressful part of my day is the morning standups where I have to basically lie about my progress and it eats at me. I hate feeling like this and I wish I could be self employed, but that's a pipe dream in current year. Take this week for example, there was something I was supposed to have started on thursday, worked most of the day on friday on, and report progress monday morning. Except I slept most of thursday and friday and now I'm taking tomorrow (monday) off sick just so that I can make up the work that I said I was doing. This situation is not sustainable, and on top of that I'm supposed to go on vacation the week after and I don't know if I'll have all my work finished by then, certainly not if I'm sleeping all mornings. Waking up at 7am is a fluffing pooch and a half

I so dearly wish indie game dev was an actual path towards money, because its something I both am capable of and would be able to do mostly on my own. However expecting to make money from indie dev is absurd with how much stuff is coming out now, and I can't just sustain with no job for the years it'd take to make such a game. But I can't work on the game when I'm busy all day being tired and stressed from my job or doing other things. And the worst part is I actually have some connections so that I could get someone to probably do the graphics for my game, and someone to do the music, since I can do neither. But how am I supposed to work on something like that when it'd take all of my freetime up for years? I like having freetime, I don't want to just sacrifice everything I do for that. If it was an actual job that'd be different.

I was considering drawing a little doodle for my mood right now but after attempting a few sketches and not being able to draw a face I just quit out of frustration, apparently not in the mood to draw either, so I had to pull a previous one

fix your sleep. set alarms, go to sleep at a fixed time. you can live off 7 hours of uninterrupted sleep per night pretty easily. even if you're getting up late, you should still be awake for 15 hours a day at the minimum, that's more than enough time to get whatever work is expected of you finished within a reasonable timeframe
you've got some executive dysfunction issues. idk where you're wasting your time but you gotta fix that shit. a wfh job is literally perfect for game dev, i would kill for a fully remote job that paid anywhere near what i get paid now. you can speed through whatever work is expected of you and then switch over to your personal project right after; at the bare minimum, that's 4 hours per day plus weekends, though it'd likely be much more. it wont be as fast as it might be if you were working full time on it, but you could still put something together within 2 or 3 years, depending on the scope of what you're trying to make
though if you're only interested in game dev for the money, you're looking at the wrong field. it's oversaturated, the ROI fluffing sucks time-wise, and if you haven't been making games since you were 12, it's probably not worth it to pursue. there are far easier and more lucrative ways to work for yourself and get filthy rich

I spended the last week moving files around on my computer. I decided to gut the bare metal Windows 10 installation I have and put the handful of Windows-only programs I "need" on a smaller virtual machine inside Ubuntu instead (which I cheekily named "Linux Subsystem for Windows"-- an inversion of Windows's WSL). But I didn't Nyvke the bare metal installation fully, as much as I was tempted to, only shrinking it instead, because I've yet to play BF6 with Averif(l)ag and occasionally some other nyagger will say that we should play some similarly pozzed ass game that requires a kernel-level anticheat, forcing my hand. I'm going to avoid any such games on my own from now on, though. They're the only reason I can't have a clean Linux-only setup at this point. My /home/ directory's grown really crusty over the years, though. I still need to finish reorganizing it.
I tested Ableton Live on the VM, producing these as test samples. It works perfectly fine. I'm going to have to get used to software rendering on Revit, but otherwise the VM solution is flawless.
It seemed the hot weather was going to subside for a while, but summer won't give up without a fight, I guess. Even if the temperatures were to drop, I'm not so sure I'd immediately want to abandon this nocturnal sleep schedule, though. I like it. The moon is really pretty too.

Steam had a sale on the cod franchise so I decided to play through them all since I never had a chance to do that as a kid. Boy, the original CoD is horrible by even early 2000s standards. Brain dead linear level design, limited gun play, enemies that insta kill you on sight (had a nazi mid burst on my ally 180 and mow me down). Some of the hard levels weren't hard because they tested my skill, but were purely annoying like Pavel's house just having guys run up behind me and my allies being useless to draw fire. This game did have its cool moments but I was more frustrated than having fun most of the time, hopefully the later entries in the franchise improve on this.

And on level design, I wasn't expecting a huge open world, but I got really pissed off when the game explicitely told me "don't try to open closed doors". Felt insulted and like the devs thought I was an idiot, it's also not very hard to create a basic room and give the world more life.
>>129262
I think back then “gamer sense” wasn’t really a thing yet in the general public so they wouldn’t understand which doors could be opened and closed.

Cod 4 through Black Ops 2 is generally considered the golden age of CoD by most oldheads, but if you end up liking zombies BO3 is a must own because it has steam workshop support for zombies maps. Ghosts is where a lot of people think the series started to fall off but even ghosts is a better game than most modern CoDs. You can play most older cod games multiplayer through stuff like plutonium for custom servers.

Why on earth wouldn't you just torrent the games? Buying the every-CoD bundle isn't sending any sort of coherent market signal or going towards funding anything of value over at Activision. Anyway, it doesn't make any sense to evaluate old videogames by the faux-objectivist goodgamedesign standards of 2026. What's even the point of playing old videogames if not to appreciate these as products of discrete sensibilities and moments in time? "linear level design", "gun play" I mean what were you expecting? That the maps would be designed like the /v/ greentext mythology perception of Deus Ex levels, that the guns would handle like Tarkov or necessite sub-DOOM2016 Simon Says quickswapping? This was an experimental period for videogames, when there hadn't quite developed any solidified understandings of who would be buying these things and what forms of friction and frustration were "acceptable", also created well into that phase where "play time" was a criteria that review outlets and consumers took seriously, and when "padding" had to be done as a compromise with that.
The only driving vision behind the first three CoDs was to recreate scenes and setpieces from the WW2 movies around that time, these weren't WW2 games as much as they were WW2 moviegames. Though they obviously didn't succeed very much at that either, with 'FPS' AI either being totally braindead or aimbotting gods, and how each section of the games incoherently oscillates between wanting to make you feel like an extra getting mowed down by an MG and a special forces commando. Modern Warfare 2 was the best the series ever got at embodying the moviegame ideal, as a loosely-connected series of cool thriller setpieces to be powered through in a couple hours.
>hopefully the later entries in the franchise improve on this
Veteran was always the trial-and-error bullshit difficulty for bragging rights, the systems in these game are simply not robust enough or well-considered enough to have any form of mastery or higher engagement with them which could be drawn out by bumping the damage numbers up. Legendary Mode in Halo CE was built on the principles established by Jason Jones while creating Marathon, of its highest difficulty and the concept of the 'Vidmaster' and the Vidmaster challenge. Of requiring and generating novel, organic forms of engagement and seemingly-effortless displays of mastery which are also entertaining to watch - videogame master, but also *video*-master. Principles which go beyond rote application of goodgamedesign (which didn't exist back then because they're fucking arbitrary and have no real epistemic foundations) and affect every facet of the resulting product. Nothing in the CoD games operates on a robust system which could be properly learned or mastered without being an autistic speedrunner that's studied the code itself; games are sets of contrived rules and systems, the only rules that CoD AI operate by are to move between fixed waypoints and shoot things until they die, maybe throw grenades based on an interval and condition. How much can you really do when working with that?
Oh yeah, the later entries don't improve on any of these things at all. The absolute worst it gets is in WaW, which is a really stupid game in general. Play these things on Normal difficulty.

Playing CoD 2 right now, and I'm mixed on it. On one hand the level design has massively improved, while the missions are clearly still linear, the world is more open and interconnects more. No more walking in corridors, the game tells me to destroy 3 tanks in the couryard and leaves me be gek
That's where the positives end though, the gunplay feels noticeably worse and hip fire has been absolutely gutted. The game feels less cinematic, the first one had a lot of "epic guy" moment but here I just kill one wave of germans and move on to the next arena. There's a lot of killing in this game, too much honestly, like so much I realize I just spent 10 minutes sitting behind cover hitting headshots and there's still 3 more waves remaining. Maybe I was playing wrong or not aggressive enough. Also CoD 2 is when we receive the icon "jam on my screen", they got rid of the health bar and now you just hide behind cover and wait to recharge.
Finished the Soviet campaign and I will not be continuing because the game introduced zero new weapons and the gunplay is worse, for a game that's all about gun play this is just ridiculous.

I mounted a cheap Amazon scope today using a cheap Amazon mount. Some time in the next few days I will see whether I did it right.

I got a scope mount that was not a "clone" or "replica" of well known high-dollar stuff. Oh, the Chinese are now making scope mounts that are mix-and-match "clones." There is one on Amazon that has the base and latching mechanism of Famous Brand A, but the latch levers are copied from Famous Brand B, and the rings are hinged at the top with screws at the bottom only like the mounts from Famous Brand C. It's a Frankenstein thing and everything about it is copied from some well known design, but the sum total is not exactly like anything else. I am not sure whether that makes them original or not. I almost bought one but the base was so long that it would have interfered with the rear sight, which is a "feature" of one of the designs they copied. I would have a little more respect for the people selling this stuff if they'd noticed the complaints about the original and altered the design to correct the problem. Either change the design or mill a centimeter or two off the rear of the base, right there. This is probably milling machine work rather than Harbor Freight chop saw work.

My eyesight isn't really up to using the irons very well any more. Did these groups today at 25 yards from a rest. It is very fatiguing. Maybe I'm not doing it right.

Equipment used: .22 rifle, cheap Amazon scope mount, the least expensive ammo I could find that is capable of semi-decent consistency, "Amazon special" scope 4-16x50mm first focal plane mrad/mrad, set to 16x. had to set the parallax to around 35 yards for the reticle and target to be in the same apparent focal plane at 25, which may be garbage-tier QC by the airsoft-tier optics manufacturer, or may be my eyesight, or the lighting conditions, those numbers are approximations only. I am wondering whether I have installed the scope correctly. It may be shifting. The rifle has a polymer optic mounting rail that is integral to the polymer upper receiver. I think the choice in materials imposes limits on how rigid the upper receiver and rail can really be.

On the other hand the adjustments seem to track okay and the scope gathers and transmits enough light to be usable at an indoor range that has really poor lighting, so that's something. I think I need more practice. I ran through a couple hundred rounds of assorted cheap ammo with no malfunctions, and that all by itself made it a good day. The cheap ammo was never great and it seems like it gets worse year over year, more duds, less consistent velocities, etc.

That doesnt look too bad for your first attempt. A lot of cooking is just trial and error and learning the ratio of seasoning to whatever your taste is. I honestly think a channa masala might be easier to try with a lack of brown people spices as long as you can stomach jeet food, it's pretty good.

There are people out there who, for whatever reason, maybe a tiny genetic difference, maybe a tiny difference in brain chemistry, encounter this stuff and their brains go "where have you been all my life?" Some of them destroy their health and ruin their lives with it. I've seen it happen. It's sad, and there is nothing you can do. Every day they get up in the morning and they make the same choice and nothing can ever change unless and until they get up one morning and choose differently, which very few of them ever do.

The doctor says "you've got to stop drinking, you're going to get a fatty liver." "You've got to stop drinking, you have a fatty liver and it's going to turn into cirrhosis." "You've got to stop drinking, you've got cirrhosis and it's going to turn into liver cancer." "You have liver cancer. You have four months to live, if that. I'm sorry." And their kids get to watch it happen.

Maybe humanity would have been better off if nobody had ever figured out this stuff about fermenting fruit.

I sat down and really played this game today. I spent a good chunk of time building this "defensive" wall before trying to build a proper shelter. The cabin was about 90% done, I'd say, when this red fatfag and some obese hoe show up and he literally knocks the whole thing down like some sort of big bad wolf. Earlier, some other really creepy crawley type nyaggers showed up and-- I wasn't looking too closely at first, so maybe this is wrong-- phased through a segment of the wall, just completely bypassing it (???). In another occasion, one of them just jumped it like it was nothing. Looks like I can't have this bailey I wanted to make here. I'm not really sure I want to even try building anything since fat nyaggers from outer space can just show up at a moment's notice and apparently swipe it down to the ground in about two seconds? Maybe I'll just stay on this ledge I have a feeling you're not really supposed to be able to camp on. lol. This is probably what playing Minecraft blind used to feel like.

you can defend it, but you are going to need a lot of sticks and stones. fly swatter traps are good and reusable, but you can put defensive spikes by place a stick into the ground and hitting it with an axe. stones give it more hp. my setup has an electric fence, which i find is actually kinda good

It's one thing if they are furnishing like 80% of the cost which is to be reimbursed over the course of 20 years or something. But even then a house has to be a real hazard already if it may become completely unlivable within a decade or two assuming the owner does not build campfires indoors, have a habit of powerwashing electric sockets or plan on turning it into a termite sanctuary.

It's almost like they want everyone to be a rentoid or something.

Still some rots are rottier than the others. We live in a climate and soil where it is almost inevitable for wooden parts that come in contact with the ground or snow.

The first thing I can remember from my dream was going to a special needs classroom and projecting into a spacecraft to fight some celestial parasite wyvern alongside a metal alien ship with a robot anime girl piloting it. The Wyvern could detach its jaw and open it freakishly far, the inside of its mouth was a sickly orange and the lower part of its jaw was connected to its body by exposed orange tendons, its body looked like a dethorned rose stalk and I attacked it by waiting for the muscle joint things connecting segments of its body to overlap with various recoloured, highlighted planetoids. The next day, I stepped in a patch of mud which seeped with gore (happened before in a recent dream), and I could see that the earth where the wyvern had fallen was still frozen. Later, I found myself revealed to be a fat, balding double decker bus driver and I quickly started going postal, flipping the bus over and shooting people with a suppressed pistol. By the time I made it back to the special needs classroom, I had missed the space adventure or it was called off so I took a seat and sat there until the dream let me go. As I was trying to recall what had happened, some saw or angle grinder noise kept going off in my head, my brain feels like sludge and I sat in bed for another hour before finally getting out.

Reminds me of the two times I've been to a bar with a friend that basically dragged me into them. Thank God they were desolate because I don't know what the flipz I would've done if there were other people when I clearly didn't belong there. I got a... Heineken Zero? Or some other non-alcoholic beer that was fucking disgusting. I did get French dip at one of the places for like twenty somefuck dollars though. That was good, I'll admit. The funny thing is he's diagnosed autistic but he likes bar culture for some reason and tries to blend in with normalfags (again, for some reason). Relatively recently he started watching football (he doesn't even know how the game works) and will occasionally bring up how the teams are doing or how the season's looking or blah blah blah I miss when he would try to talk to me about trains or logistics or the history of some obscure restaurant chain. I might have to beat some sense back into him or something idk. Maybe I should've shown greater interest in the trains. Maybe this is all my fault :/ So, yeah, in conclusion: we had the same experience with the overpriced items.
I'm still open to trying alcohol in the future but probs at home.

beer tastes like shit, it's probably the worst way you could get introduced to drinking. i think it's a travesty when alcoholics only drink beer and nothing else, there's so much variety in alcohol out there and they go and pick the worst goypiss to drink exclusively
for mild flavor, watered down absinthe is incredibly simple and light on sugar. red wine is also ok if you're fine with looking like a faggot. im personally weary of sugary mixed drinks because it's pretty easy to drink too much and start vomiting, or not drink enough water and end up with a massive hangover. also, they're annoying to make
really though, it's best to just visit total wine every once in a while, buy a couple things that interest you, and try them out

I was going through a maze of dark industrial corridoors for a short while, before gaining the knowledge of a written guide which instructed me to put a particular magazine into my gun and then follow the echoing sounds of fighting. Upon doing so, I walked into a portal which transported me into a walled Mesopotamian city. At the entrance were two small, barren vegetable plots, and a starving peasant on his knees looking through one of them. The entire ground was soft, warm yellow sand. After wandering through the dark passages of the great wall and possibly having the events of the first sentence happen here instead, I ended up in the centre of the ziggurat, with the instructions to find a guard and get a quest from him. There was a great empty courtyard in front of me being cast in stark shadow from a massive Egyptian pyramid beyond the gate at the end of the court, the "guard" was standing in the upper-right quadrant of the court - he was a tall, primitive figurine made of soft, firm, unfired brown clay holding a clay spear. The guide stated that I could skip his mission and be granted passage straight into the pyramid if I were a sorceror that was young and sacrosanct, but warned that I didn't come here to perform the duties they were expecting of me anyway. The guard's mission dialog was four pages long and was something about discovering all ten pages of skills or weapons or something, but I was focusing more on touching the guard and running my hand along his backside and feeling his smooth clay body. Then I had to wake up because I was ejaculating.
Obviously the whole city was fashioned on Ma'havre from Fear & Hunger. The sun was brightly beaming down on everything but it was still foggy in the far distance, it was nearly devoid of life and very clearly in an iron age of fading connection to the divine, and even the dark sandstone passageways felt calming and unthreatening. I would like to return there someday soon. No more sleep after that.
I’m scheduling a walk in I can’t deal with this sinus shit anymore it’s 4am and I can’t go to sleep.

Have been playing the starcraft campaign and I'm almost finished with the first series. This mission took me hours to finish, I started with only a small base and needed to rapidly expand while being constantly raided by the enemy. Just as I was about to win I realize what I have done and I needed to stop!
Had at least four layers of dreams within dreams that I kept going back and forth through multiple times. I was a paraplegic in all of them. First dream on the lowest layer had me as a balding Ukrainian in a navy tracksuit with my wheelchair where my bed is, and I would see three-dimensional shadow figures of people and dinosaurs walking past my view which made me laugh, my aunt's husband was there and came into the room to check on me, then my grandfather did but I knew he was only a hallucination. The layer above that had me at some small outdoors event with a couple of people, something about a car crash being responsible for my legs. The next layers up were me bedbound in my room, in one of the dreams I had a shotgun loaded with redpills and I pumped it which made a choking sound, which made my mother run into the room and open her lipsticked mouth above my face, which made me angry so I slapped her really hard before she could do anything else, for which she thanked me (I guess she was the one that was choking?). It got annoying and unremarkable after that.

House hunting continues. This is a hoarder house that was foreclosed so I can get it for a pretty good price.
But the bank literally told me that they don't want me to buy a house. They told me that they'd rather me buy a share of an apartment or rowhouse. What the hell? They want me to own nothing and be happy.
>>133118
This one looks /comfy/, houses on slopes are the best. In fact, having a good view is honestly more important than its size even. Far too often do I see people with no taste drooling at the sight of large goyboxes tightly copypasted against each other in some lowland area that tends to get flooded in spring, like what's the point, it's just miserable, they may as well just buy an adjacent apartment in their commieblock and merge the two.
How does the banking thing work, any option to pick another one that is less oyvey? Or like take a loan for something else but actually spend it on the house?

Perhaps, but I've worked full-time since the second I turned 18 and never missed a month of rent. The mortgage payment itself is considerably less than what I pay in rent. There was a politician some decades ago that essentially directed the banks to be very scrutinizing towards any housing loan that isn't for a flat in the capital. Nothing has changed since then.
>>133119
Indeed, the property is pretty nice. The house is on top of a hill at the end of the street, surrounded by the woods. Neighbors in only one direction, and they are still obscured by trees.
I am inquiring about loans from several banks. If I get rejected by another two, I'll just have to... uh, give up for now.
For the cost of the house, the housing loan is the only loan available for the common man.

> very scrutinizing towards any housing loan that isn't for a flat in the capital
That's nuts, you'd think the politicians would be encouraging the population to spread out, cities being overcrowded as they are. Kind of a destructive agenda.
>If I get rejected by another two
If that still comes to that, hopefully there are more banks to nag. No harm in trying anyway, can't be that time-consuming anyway.

An absolute tragedy. Though as a silver lining surely they gave the bun the affection and warmth she deserves, so while the two of you are separated she is taken care of.
I had to take a train to the city and walk for six kilometres through smog to my bank branch to re-activate my (state mandated) banking authenticator software, because I guess there wasn't enough ZOG psychoterror in my life. A ticket inspector jokingly asked if I was a Muslim because of my hood and long hair, I guess that was a little funny and I didn't think my grandmother was referring to a real stereotype that exists here when she would say that my long hair makes the neighbours think that I'm a Muslim. Also got ethernet cables and connectors from the town hardware store they but didn't have the fluffing tool for crimping them on and the hardware store in the city was way too far to reach on foot, so I'll just have to order them online. That Woman apparently booked a doctor's appointment for the eighth without telling me until now so I'll have to Die today if I want to get ready for that.

yesterday, i had a dream i saw a supermassive cross of pure golden light descending from the sky
last night i had 2 dreams. one where i was apparently an anthro BC single mother in a cheesy slasher movie panicking that a serial killer was stalking me and trying to murder me and my baby. it ended with me running to my car in an attempt to escape, but deciding to run to some random broccoli hair zoomer to scream for help. he looked very disinterested
my last dream i was myself again in a dark parking lot with only a cop car. some schizo man was walking around with a shotgun, and i ran to the cop car to alert the officer. but the fatass officer was distracted by his phone, and i had to balance tapping on the glass to alert the cop and not alerting the schizo. eventually the cop realized wtf was going on and arrested the man. he disassembled the shotgun and left the parts with me while he hauled him off to prison. it ended with me sitting on the sidewalk as some annoying ass cartel mexicans started fluffing with me and my disassembled shotgun. i think i got their guy arrested or something, despite the schizo being a white guy

i grated the beets and then only blended them up after they were cooked enough. doing so i noticed they cooked a lot faster than the time they estimated in the recipe. i guess it's just basic physics with a little chemistry sprinkled on top, the more things are broken down in smaller pieces, the faster chemical reactions occur. it does kinda make sense since you have a larger surface area... i guess. atleast that's what i think.
i added some pork bits afterwards, it isn't in the recipe but it got a lot tastier. and a whole lotta un-kosher...

>grate beets
>grate carrots
>slice cabbage
>slice garlic
>dice onions
>either slice tomatoes or just get passata if there are none left in the garden
>break potatoes up into smaller lumps with a fork after they have been sufficiently cooked
Meat is either beef or pork and in the former case it's added to the broth in advance and boiled while the rest is being prepared.

Why? No reason other than that's how it was taught and it seems to work. Can even squeeze a few drops of lemon juice to sour it a bit more, even though it's unorthodox.

I started playing No Man's Sky again. As much as I love this game I have to admit the main thing that I hate about it is how shitty and obnoxious the UI for this game feels to use on KBM. I've played a lot of games over the years that are notorious for 'clunky/outdated' uis and they dont bother me but NMS's has always been shitty as hell to use for me.
I just felt as I've not felt-- as I've not wanted to feel-- for about two years. I realize every so often how strange and apathetic I've grown. Sometimes I wonder if I'd've been better off alone. If I had simply chosen not to interact with anyone-- even online-- three years ago, if I had fully committed to never having any relationships whatsoever ever again. At least then I'd be spared from feeling any of this. But I think I needed this, in a way. There is a strange... hope? I had to make a deal with myself again. Just a few more weeks. I need to keep all these things many, many layers down until I can deal with them. I need to go back to the desert. I will, soon. There I will find the answer, God willing. But sometimes... such as just now... I catch glimpses of what I've not allowed myself to feel for so long and realize the depth of that abyss. The size of the dragon. "Here there be demons" is what I remember hearing in a trance. And I will have to purge them all. I will.

"YOUR" a Homo sapien.
If you're thinking evolutionarily, sure, that's typical. We're pack animals "by default". But there are always outliers, and culture has the ability to suppress biology (that's arguably its purpose). There've always been hermits. Even amongst wolves, some just... wander off from their packs. And I seem to fit that archetype. Loneliness has never really bothered me. Still, maybe what you seem to be implying is correct. Maybe I've just grown accustomed to it and events like the one that prompted last night's reflection stab through that shell, right at me. But, see, it's precisely others that make me feel this discomfort, never solitude. Solitude does not hurt. The thought that any furriend I make I must inevitably watch disappear or die is what hurts.
But no, that's not really the greatest thing gnawing at me. I don't care if I die alone. Genuinely. The single greatest thing that torments me-- that's tormented me since I first pondered it-- is the objective meaninglessness of life. There is no defeating it with logic. Logic fails when you approach that ultimate question: "Why?"
How's chapter 3 coming? My fingers are itching to make corrections and present them to you like picrel.

I know. That's the token response. There's not much better you can do, logically, because logic fails here, but it just doesn't sit right with me. It is still all ultimately-- objectively-- meaningless because whatever the purpose of this all is is simply unattainable via reasoning. It is not mortally comprehensible. That has gnawed at me since I was a child, slowly. And it just doesn't make sense. It makes me think along the same Evolutionary lines you brought up. It just doesn't make sense for any organism to be distressed by the very concept of its existence. Is that not Satan? Whatever-- for now. Don't give it too much thought. I am happy you are happy. How it feels being liberated from the heat by the rain ev&o it's going to pick right back up by the weekend apparently, but hopefully that should finally be the end of that... but like... for real this time
I finally got around to playing Sons of the Forest again. I think I've gotten the hang of it now. Those flyswatter traps actually work (thanks Mike!). It's fun watching the cannibals get gibbed. And they don't even backfire on you if you step on them so I might just lay a whole field of them on the slope going up to my motte and bailey. Now I need to figure out how to get proper clothing for the cold instead of doing the Tierra del Fuego method of staying in motion and going from fire to fire. But I have a feeling you might just have to find that and can't really craft it. I'll try going hunting to get some deerskins anyways. I'm trying to beat the game blind. I'll definitely need better weapons and armor though because I've a feeling this isn't the worst the game has to throw at you.

I'm having problems with my general smell.

To elaborate on it. I have this off smell that I like to call my musk (my mother says I smell like a sweaty grandpa KEK) the smell to me smells damp and with a few hints of pine. I have tried to scrub it off with everything.

Stronger smelling shampoos/conditioners, soaps, BLEACHING my skin but, alas nothing has worked for me because this musky smell comes back in about half an hour.

pls help.

Probs diet. Last week, I noticed the fluffing pheromone ring around my armpits smelled like chicken. No surprise, once I stopped to think about what I had eaten. Could also be stress? I've noticed scent fluctuates based on mood. Like stress has this particularly acrid, stinging scent that luckily dissipates quickly. Yeah, bathing & deodorant and all that shit only masks it or removes it for a bit. In fact, I've noticed people who tend to use those products usually start smelling like shit the moment they start sweating and the effect starts to fade. Oh. It could also be your clothing. Clothing traps scent more than some realize. I guess you can't help it if you *have* to wear clothing almost 24/7 but try to aerate yourself when you can. I remember my feet used to stink back when I wore footwear like a normal person. Went away the moment I was able to go barefoot most the day (post 2020). Etc., etc.
>pheromone ring around my armpits smelled like chicken
Some shit I’d read from the fox thread.
Replies: >>135697
>>135662
Probably already obvious but the #1 course of action is thinking back on what has changed around the time the difference was first noticed.
Diet is often the leading cause, as others have mentioned.
Hormonal changes can be at work. Recently read somewhere that the "old grandpa" smell associated with the elderly is caused by something that starts developing in one's forties. Having been around the elderly, even if they take care of themselves you can usually still sense something in them. But it is usually exacerbated by them not washing their clothes and bedsheets as often.

Also had a nasty case of viral infection a few years back (could have been the coof), smelled weird for a few weeks after that.
Goes without saying that taking meds like antibiotics, corticosteroids etc can change the way a person smells. Some treatment plans have such combos of meds that your piss turns washer-fluid-blue or emerald-green, surely it can affect smell too.
Consuming alcohol changes one's sweat too. When someone reeks of alcohol, it's usually not just their breath, it's coming from their pores.

Adding to the clothing thing mentioned above, try to avoid plastics like polyester, stick to cotton for everything except for certain sports, can't go wrong with that. Could be a reaction to some new chinesium three-wolf-moon t-shirt. A lot of affordable things that look cool are made of plastic because it's generally cheaper to produce clothing that looks appealing at a glance.

Hey all, took the time to read your replies and I came to realize that my diet's pretty screwed. I mainly eat a mix of dried processed cutlets and potatoes, god potatoes are my Kryptonite ,same goes for tomatoes with salt. And a whole lot of bread.

>Old Grandpa smell develops in your 40
I'm 18.
>Antibiotics/Alcohol can cause the smell
Not on any meds besides the occasional aspirin for a sore throat + not a drinker. (Although I am a semi-heavy smoker if that makes any difference)
>>135672
Lol. It was subtle and probably the result of eating an unusually elevated amount of *fried* chicken that week (more than just once). Funnily enough, my sweat usually smells like... pastries almost? This is despite hardly ingesting any sugar at all or bread for that matter. My diet is well over 50% animal-based.
>>135688
>But it is usually exacerbated by them not washing their clothes and bedsheets as often.
After an experiment I did, I'm nearly convinced that if I were to go homeless someday for whatever reason, the best course of action with regard to odor is to prioritize laundry over bathing. Not that bathing isn't also helpful, of course.

To be entirely serious, well, this would maybe be a personal question. I'm not asking you to answer, but maybe asking you to consider a possibility. Did one or both of your parents come from a really poor background?

Relatives of mine lived through the Great Depression and most of them spent the rest of their lives absolutely terrified of the idea of running out of food. They would hoard canned sauerkraut and Beenie Weenies, more than they could ever eat, "just in case," because "you never know." And when they died every closet in the house was filled with rusting thirty-year-old canned food. It was, genuinely, a psychological reaction to years of fear and trauma, something that made them feel like there was something they could control. It was a very human reaction. Maybe it wasn't logical or rational, but, see, human beings aren't very logical or rational.

How did you cook it? Long ago I heard stories of relatives who did that kind of thing. To get squirrel edible you have to skin it and clean it and then cook it for a few hours in a pressure cooker. Otherwise they're so chewy they're all but impossible to eat.

One old recipe, or at least method, went something like this:

take cleaned skinned squirrel, sprinkle with salt and pepper, coat with flour

put some cooking oil in the pressure cooker pan and heat it up. brown the squirrel with some chopped onions.

add enough water to cover the squirrel and add some sliced potatoes and carrots and a chopped celery stalk. add a bay leaf.

put the top on the pressure cooker and let it cook a few hours under high steam pressure. eventually your squirrel & taters will be edible. serve with a freshly made pan of cornbread, or a big fresh blob of "fry bread" (basically Irish "farl bread" or "soda bread").

i gutted it, and left the meat soaking in salty water for 2 hours, then marinated it in buttermilk for 1 hour, before coating it in flour and other spices and then frying it in canola oil. the result was stringy meat, but i intentionally cut time on marinating and soaking because 1. i wanted to eat my first kill soon (and i didnt eat anything today) and 2. i have never eaten gamey/wild meat before, and i wanted to see what it was like. i was under the impression it was just chewy, but the meat texture was more stringy, which was a little gross, but not hard to chew necessarily. i also fluffed up the skinning part, and there were a couple hairs all over the meat
>Long ago I heard stories of relatives who did that kind of thing.
afaik squirrel hunting actually played a large role historically in american diets, so i'm not surprised people have old family recipes for them. most people opt for other meats these days though, like chicken, a preferred staple of the north american pavement ape (as well as a certain latina fox)
unfortunately i do not have a pressure cooker, i might just let the meat soak for longer next time

i felt a lot of emotions. it happened very fast, as me and the squirrel accidentally stumbled into each other. i reacted very quickly, and i'm glad i did, as after the shot i could feel my hands shaking, so i managed to aim and shoot before the adrenaline fully affected my aim. that whole moment felt like it wasn't real, which i notice happens to me when something extremely stressful/out of the ordinary happens. then i started panicking because i couldn't find the squirrel i shot for about 5 minutes, but i eventually found it. after i was bringing it back, i started feeling sad, and questioning why do i, living a comfortable air-conditioned life, deserve to take the life of a creature who has to live a much harder life than i, just to make a small meal? maybe i'm a softie, but this is the first ever animal i intentionally killed (unless you count annoying bugs)

although i felt a bit sad, and had nightmares about being attacked by squirrels that night, i tried again today, but only managed to see 1 squirrel running, and even had it in my scope. but i chose not to take the shot because it was moving too fast. perhaps a shotgun would have come in handy. i slowly approached where i thought it ran up a tree, but it was long gone. the rest of the day was spent creeping around, tripping over shit, and sitting around, waiting for a single squirrel to show up. they weren't lying about wild squirrels being nothing like urban ones. although, i think the duck hunters were doing a holocaust or something, because there was nonstop constant gunfire in the distance. i wonder if that made the critters hide (except the birds, they did not give a single shit). that and wearing woodland dpm in autumn was probably not the smartest choice
i'll keep going after squirrels, but if i see any rabbits, they'll go in the pot too (i think i was getting ragebaited today by rabbits or something. i kept hearing scurrying in dense vegitation). one reason i wanted to start hunting squirrels was to see if i could stomach doing it, and a bigger animal like a deer would probably be more traumatizing
>In any case, the squirrel's death through your hands was likely faster and less painful than whatever else would have killed it in nature. As long as your hunting doesn't harm the local ecology, I see no harm in it.
i hope so. it was completely unresponsive when i found it, but i don't know how a leg shot would kill something that fast. though since squirrels don't have painkillers, hospice, or deathbed gatherings, it still was probably a better death. as for harming the local ecology, i would have to kill a lot more squirrels before that started happening. that and fluffers here leave so much trash in the woods. hunting is a white man's sport, act like a white man ffs

ive been sick to my stomach worrying about what im going to do for the future for like 3 days straight. like my stomach has physically hurt during that time.
it seems like nowadays people way more capable than me are having issues putting food on the table. it seems to be getting worse with way more things being automated, will anyone even see any use in paying me so i can keep living. it does help that i read about some examples of historical economic disasters and they werent exactly pretty. now theres more people and theyre more reliant on these systems.
the only reason im still alive is because my parents are supporting me, but even if they never retired theyre obviously not going to live forever. i try to talk to them about what i should do thats future proof but all i ever get is shit that either cant support you now or is likely going to be replaced by a machine in a few years. when i try pointing this out they bring out "well you cant do NOTHING" which was not at all what i was recommending. for reference on how out of touch they are with the economy, they still think you can support a family of 4 if you work hard stocking shelves at a grocery store. theyre overly positive about things in general
trying to get out and make something of myself was a problem way before all this ai stuff reared its head and its not like i want to be a useless piece of shit, id want to do something good with my life even if i didnt need to to live, but it was hard enough being productive and building skills when the thought was "it doesnt matter what you do youll just end up wageslaving with less than 30 minutes of free time every day until your poor health takes you" so its not much easier now that the thought is "you and everyone youve ever seen are probably going to be dead in a gutter in 5 years, less if youre lucky or smart enough to meow yourself"

things aren't good by any means, but for the most part, you'd have to fluff up pretty damn bad to have issues with putting food on the table if you're a single young healthy male. automation is fluffing up a lot of the white collar office jobs, but blue collar will be okay for the next couple decades because it's hard to get AI to fix cars or dig ditches. at the very least, there will always be something that you can do to pay for a roof over your head and food in your tummy if you're willing to eat shit 6 days a week
that isn't to say that you should strive to be a ditch digger or other form of blue collar slave, the trades suck ass and going into them shouldn't be the end goal of anyone with half a brain. there are still white collar fields that are doing just fine when it comes to hiring. the ones that come to my mind are the horribly antiquated ones like anything government/DOD, or ones protected by licensing requirements like medicine or civil engineering. i don't know how old you are or where you are with your education, but going through 4 years of college, grinding through a CE degree, and getting an internship or two before you graduate is still a valid strategy to walk into a $70k/yr do-nothing job in some low to mid COL city
being young is quite hard financially because you have zero assets, zero skills, and half of your income is guaranteed to go into the pit that is rent. things generally wont get better until you get some sort of skill that people are actively looking for and are willing to pay for. once you get your foot in the door of an actual career, things will start to snowball rather quickly. if you're stocking shelves at walmart and you arent working on an exit plan towards a real job, you've fluffed up and need to get your shit together
go look at hiringcafe and see what jobs are out there, what they're paying, where they are, and what their requirements are. the listings there are real, it's how i found the place im working at right now. if an entry level job interests you and calls out a certain skill or piece of software, you now have something to work towards.
your parents are old and grew up in a world that doesn't exist anymore, dont expect them to be of any help. you're gonna have to figure things out for yourself. dont be afraid to feed dumb questions into chatgpt if you're feeling lost, just make sure you include in the magical "check reddit" bit in the prompt so it doesnt hallucinate some bullshit. glhf

You can try seeking a job that requires an easy certificate or license. This will filter 80% of your competitors, because they didn't know that you can get said license in, like, a few weeks. Security is one such field. Especially in a time of economic instability, people will get more violent and are more willing to steal and rob. Even in the age of AI. As such, there will be an increased need for The Establishment to have their assets guarded. You can be that someone. I am too.
It's a dead-end field for the most part, of course, but it's a stable income at the very least. Study at your post, if you like.
Also if you are American, definitely join the military. You guys get crazy benefits. All I got from my military service was a few € per day.

Whatever you do, your primary goal as of now should be to make yourself financially independent. Realize that nothing in this world is free, except perhaps unconditional love from some parents. Like you said, parents are not forever, so you have to always, at least by minimum, be able to live for yourself.
After all:
You are the only thing that will always be with you.

I do that too, but with my own worlds.

>going through 4 years of college, grinding through a CE degree, and getting an internship or two before you graduate is still a valid strategy to walk into a $70k/yr do-nothing job in some low to mid COL city
where i live it isn't, i can't even find an internship. shit's fucked. i've talked to people in my class, almost no one has an IT related job and those that have only do so because they "know someone". IT degrees are as useful as gender studies nowaydays. i honestly think i have no choice except ZOGging up, they have computer technician jobs in the military atleast

tried hunting again today. i didn't catch anything again, but i still consider it a partial success. i managed to get close to an actual rabbit before it ran off. and by the end of the day i saw 3 squirrels. one i had the perfect shot on. it was only like 30 yards away, and it was climbing down, making itself a very large target. i shot twice, and managed to fucking miss both times. i checked the zero on my scope, and it was still accurate, so i'm just a horrible shot. i must have jerked the trigger or something

many such cases! when i'm in the woods i fantasize about rescuing an escaped anthro bc and helping her expose the lab that made her

well yeah no shit nyagger it's one of the most jeeted and outsourced career fields in the country
>zogging it up
not a good idea unless you're joining the reserve/guard strictly for a clearence and leave after doing the bare minimum. even then, applying directly to cleared entry level IT jobs is probably a better use of your time. from a quick look at usajobs there's a bunch of listings if you're willing to move and deal with federal hiring nonsense but one you're in, you're set for life
Apparently I underestimated the time needed for the Halloween project so there will be no fluffing around today ev&o i dag er søndag.

from midnight to sunset, a sunday spent with my immediate family watching a new soul enter this earth
I felt thankful, given how uncommon and brief these gatherings are with wagie life resuming tomorrow morning, though during all of it, I couldn't help but wonder about the time before existence

it feels like the youth is being left behind, but as to what the solution would be... I wouldn't know
at minimum, the system would have to change, but knowing the nature of government, the likely outcome is some surveillance nanny state power fantasy
>>136339
video game? or what's your plan?
I'd love to finish my l4d2 map by halloween, though it's difficult given how little free time there is outside of weekends
>>136297
do you hunt with lead-free ammunition? I assume yes... though never hurts to ask
I'm curious on how your cooking will look over time, because as time-consuming as it seems, practice makes perfect, and I believe this hunting process will be a useful skill someday

I only come here whenever I don't feel terrible, but those moments are getting rarer and rarer by the month. Only one escape.

first of all im not healthy. even among out of shape sacks of shit my foots all fluffed up and it needs treatment every month or so that leaves it harder to walk around. forget blue collar jobs, the military wouldnt even want me as a meat shield
second how many ditch diggers are they really going to need even if they dont get replaced by ai
i dont see why any of these jobs would be more protected. once claude or whatever gets smart enough would anyone even care if its a human with a degree doing it? theyd likely just pass a law saying the bot has a degree
>dont be afraid to feed dumb questions into chatgpt if you're feeling lost
i dont find it to be the best idea to ask the bot threatening my existence for advice. i dont think it or its creators have my best interests at heart
im not trying to just be negative but it seems like everyone is being overly positive about this again. it seems people are ignoring reality to believe what they can live with
i just talked with my mother again about how everyone is out of a job especially cs majors and she says she doesnt believe it because an article told her that they need cs majors
>what can i do that wont get taken by ai
<you should do what your brothers doing and go into medicine
>what makes you think a machine cant do that
<because a human can only do it
>why cant a machine do it
<it just cant!
or
>all the people who were told cs would be the one safe thing cant find jobs
<just do what you love
>how do i know if what i love is viable
<just tell me what you love jeez
>all the people who loved cs cant find jobs
<what does that have to do with you tell me what you love
>okay i love cs
<oh you should go into that

im also unempluzzed as a cs major but dw better times will come. Theres a very very big chance the ai bubble pops out soon, thats why they needed to pander for "world ending catastrophe" because they want the governments to buy them out. A lot of companies are finding ai to be more expensive than developers so its not all over.

Also why dont you exercise with something you can do? there must be something

it seems they just keep printing more money at everyone elses expense
it seems it will only "pop" when we literally are unable to do the work because all the worlds labor was directed towards this shit. again the historical shit ive read where this happens is not pretty and i cant stop thinking about it. it was all just so horrible
maybe youre right but i cant do another game of "just 2 weeks for that to happen." for almost a week ive been so stressed about this. its all i can think about and i feel im going to die
