I saged because I felt my contribution to the thread was not significant enough to bump it. But two people saying that they have no experience with Starbucks, that's big. That is something indeed.

I guess it's a relief that Floof's engagement baiting is only representative of anthro.foo and not this website, anthro.boo, which bears no relation or similarity to the former website whatsoever.

I feel like it's time to address the elephant in the room. A lot of users have left, and the 'boo has lost much of its activity. The decline has been sharp, we went from an average of 70 unique users (the peak being 98 right before the announcement of the 'foo's end of operations) to 40 or fewer in the span of a month. That decline is also visible in the quality and frequency of posts: too many overly horny posts, too few drawthreads and events, and no activity in the site's drawpile.

Honestly, I don't think anyone's at fault for this. It seems like a natural development. Maybe it's a structural issue with the imageboard format. Maybe things just got boring and people moved on - the fate of the previous owner and his site being a good example - it's hard to say for sure.

Frankly, I don't think there's a solution to this. Banning people and deleting posts isn't the answer, and neither is changing the site's structure/format or shifting the theme entirely. None of that will stop people from leaving, stop the remaining users from losing enthusiasm, or stop the content from becoming more repetitive. If anything, taking such harsh actions would only make things worse.

It just seems like nature is taking its course. Times are changing, and the imageboard as a format is becoming a thing of the past. Perhaps the most honest and self-aware thing to do is just let it go.

I'd like to hear our fellow booleans weigh in on this.

>everything I like is dying all of a sudden.
At least in part this is just the natural course of things, times change. We used to have malls and mall rats, children playing outside unsupervised, social networks were less pervasive, forums were active, information was shared in the open instead of being confined to ecosystems created by major corporations. Old neighborhoods being slowly demolished to make room for whatever the current building trend is.
We lost most of that but gained something else in return, like the funny ai cat videos and affordable solar energy.
Imageboards are like rocks in the path of a stream of the current thing is.
This too shall pass.
> i can't even prevent it,
Partaking in the art thread is a worthy contribution to keeping this place going.

The way I see it, disсоrd and r*ddit (possibly xitter too?) are siphoning the userbases from imageboards by offering bells and whistles, webapps, better mobile integration, easier tracking of (You)s for that dopamine etc at a faster pace too, to please the adhd crowd — in exchange for privacy. Some users are literally asked to submit their government issued IDs to access certain channels, that is vile.

Don't let it bring you down though, that's what they want.

Can't trust the link click numbers, most people who visit the site would see "anthro.boo" in an image and type it into their searchbar. That's how I found the 'foo, and the periodic xitter posts remind me to check in on this site.
Like right now! I had been preoccupied for a while and a xitter post reminded me to browse again now that I have some more free time.

Drawgiraffes are fine. Posters come and posters go, no use complaining about it.
In my experience, the artists I see always come back to the imageboards. They're here forever just like the rest of us.
